Very nice shot. At first, I thought that maybe one of them was the child you were adopting.

No, she is only 5 1/2, and my wife would likely object to my "adopting" a 20 year old gal. ;-)

Good luck finding them, I'm sure they would love the photo. (BTW, a 20mb photo on UHH wouldn't look any different from a 2mb photo, so, no need to "*SIGH*" because you couldn't get it to be 43mb!)

True enough. But on the outside chance it found its way to them, they could download a file that would print very well even at large size. :-)

Here's hoping the folks on UHH can help me with this. Below is a shot I took during my recent trip to China to complete my newest adoption. I'm including as much information as I can, because I am wildly hoping that someone, somehow, someway will be able to forward the image on to the couple, or know how to find them and achieve that, as I'm very happy with how it turned out (one of a small handful I have "finished" as yet), and would like them to have it. My thanks in advance for any and all help anyone can provide. God bless y'all and yours!

Location: Shamain Island, Guangzhou, China, January, 28th, 2019, about 12:50pm

It was a gazebo along the river's edge, a small walk from Lucy's Bar & Grill. Music was being played for free by a handful of older folks sitting and standing inside the gazebo. There was a guitar, a flute, a violin, an accordion, and they were all in their 50's or older. This couple (like many others) stood just outside the gazebo and watched - they stood near (or possibly with) a bicycle.

Shot details:
Canon EOS Rebel T6
Natural lighting
Exposure 1/640 second
Shutter speed 1/664 second
Focal length 41.0 mm
ISO 160
Desaturated
Contrast increased 15%
Vignette added
Tinted Red

File has been resized to fit within UHH limits (*SIGH*), of 20MB. The original is 43 MB.

Do you know if it will it fit on the Canon eyepiece extender?
Probably not as the extender has a rubber cushion.

After a bit of digging on Amazon, I found this one (there are a couple others, but I think this cup size & shape is my personal best bet), that is supposed to work with a whole bunch of Canon models..

Got mine from Amazon,JJC was the company. It rotates to fit left or right eye dominance. Cost around $12.00 at the time.

It seems a brand name (JCC) was exactly what I needed to get a usable search result for what I was looking for. Thanks a heap!

A natural light (indoors, there's not much!) study of one of my favorite stained glass artworks. I hope you enjoy the download?

I took a whole pile of shots similar to this at a cathedral about 30 minutes from where I live named "Holy Hill" about 12 years ago, and a handful of similar ones while in China 11 years ago (that were of glass windows as well). I love shooting stuff this way, thanks for reminding me of it, I'll try and keep it in mind when we are in China again less than two weeks from now. :-)

Very nice shot.

And... feathers would be good; this Cornish Game Hen Chick may think she is rocking her nude portrait... but, not so much.

Wowzers! Never woulda thunk it. Puts me in mind to watch some WB Roadrunner cartoons. LOL

Which do you prefer? Is there any merit (at all) to the Monochrome version, or is it just too abstract... because we all associate Monarchs with that amazing splash of colors?

Thanks for the thoughts and feedback.

I'd take the B&W shot myself. Now I LOVE all things B&W, my illustration most of my life has dealt more often in it that color, and I love B&W photography for the same reasons (heavy brooding blacks, moods, etc).

This B&W shot has a lot of impact to it, and the lack of color actually adds a smoky depth to the branch/vegetation it is perched on, reminiscent of a dragon...

... for me, that is. I occasionally like to indulge in €œ”Portraits that shouldn’t work”. My current favorites are those taken in poor natural light, with the model behind thick, old (and sometimes, a bit moth-eaten!) sheers, screens, and other similar materials.

I hesitate to call this professional and/or advanced portraiture, but I find this effect, effective...

Excellent work. Were it not for the holes in the screen, folks would think it was printed on fabric or canvas.

Always fun, trying to capture fast-feeding Gulls in low light. And, sometimes, I end up with some interesting (to me, anyway) shots?

I like that quite a lot. It may be an unintentional composition, but it is a very good one, colors, direction, shape (arc of wings and waves)...s'all good. Nice one!

Met him sunbathing in Puerto Vallarta (Iggy was sunbathing; I was taking pictures). As he seemed inclined to pose for a Portrait, how could I resist?

Species (I think, trying to confirm the sighting) is Ctenosaura pectinata; Western Spiny-Tailed Iguana.

Very nice shot! And though he is a reptile, there is still appears to be an expression on his face - by the light in his eyes, and the "smile", one of joy, no less! :-)

Again, excellent shot!

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

My wife pulled the trigger, and for Christmas she got me my first actual DSLR, it's a Canon Rebel T6, that I got with a nice little pile of accessories.

I'm leaving to go to China in a whopping 8 days, so have very little time to get up to speed with it; so I plan to take only one lens and plenty of battery power on the trip (she also gave me a hi-speed 64GB SD card!), and will likely be using mostly automatic settings the majority of the time (I'll have little time to do more than point and shoot while I'm there).

Here's the thing,...I would REALLY like a different eyecup for it, one that is like the old ones I remember back in my school days 30+ years ago, where it is an actual CUP shape that basically covers my eye. The one I have from the factory (and the few I've manages to look up so far) is apparently shaped for ease of use with glasses (which I do wear, but don't NEED to to snap pictures), though I don't seem to gain anything from it.

Now, that may just be me, or just that it has been since forever, or that I just need to adjust to modern eyepieces using my glasses...I don't know, but it seems to me even if I bring it up to touching my glasses, I (1) don't get as much of a full view as I ought to, and (2) I definitely have light bleed-in from the sides.

SO.... I'd really like to find one that is more old-school cup-shaped to try out and see if I am more comfortable (as I hope to be) with one like that.

Does anyone here know where I could find such an animal today, and that would properly attach to my Rebel T6? If so, what do you think (or know) that it would cost me?

Thanks a heap for all your info/advice folks!
