Yes. You can set it to save in both forms. The D750 has 2 card slots. I have it so it saves in JPEG in slot 1 and RAW in slot 2
I recently moved to digital. Back in September I retired my trusty old n90s leaving film behind. The D750 at least can use all my old lenses. I also picked up a canon pro 100 photo printer. I should have did be this years ago.
For sure. Using Mirror lockup is essential. What amazed me was how much my deck shakes with foot prints. I would pre aim the lens then step inside the house. As the moon got into the center of the frame I would take the picture via iPad.
Nice shot. I was using my iPad in that fashion. Also to minimize camera shake. The tricky part was the wind and clouds.
I was printing the photo and at 13x19 it’s very crisp. The first pic was raw right from the camera.
Playing with photoshop and cleaned it up a bit and enhanced colors, with the moon being a reflective surface could the colors be a reflection of earth?
Be kind on this picture it was taken with a iPhone of the printed picture. Just wanted to show the affect.
Wow. So very different setup than i used. But so similar. I used spot metering. ISO 200, at 1/250 f16. Nikon D750, 300-800 zoom with teleconverter and a tripod with a gimbal Mount. Hats off to you get such a great picture being handheld!! I was having issues with wind and clouds last night. My pic is on the page before yours I think.
Thanks. Really appreciate your positive comments!!!
Just curious what equipment were you using, and settings, focal length, and where you were at. I posted the same picture last night and was comparing images. Slight differences but very similar. Curious if we used similar settings. I’m outside of St. Louis.
Thanks. Yes some people must be unhappy with there own aspect on life and it makes them feel better about to be pessimistic.
I found this lens for $2k. Plan on using it on some wildlife but tried it on the moon last night to see what it could do. I’ve never liked teleconverters but wanted to try it with it. Next clear night I will try without and see if cropping produces better results.
Just bought a new lens. And this is my first attempt using it, and first telephoto moon pics I’ve done. I’m using a Nikon D750 with a 2x teleconverter with the Sigma 300-800 at 800.
Previous pics were film. These two were digital with the D750, and I’m seeing a more dramatic effect in color than I’ve had before.
I traditionally found that BW photos for me have more artistic contrast and more of a wow factor. Or at least for me I have a harder time finding a color picture with the same pop that catches your eye. Or maybe its just more difficult to get the perfect color photo where BW photos it’s easier to have the more drastic contrast.
I traditionally have shot with a Nikon N90s for well over a decade and just switched to a Nikon D750. When taking BW with the D750 I use it in Monochrome mode and uses the digital filters, maybe because it reminds me more of using filters and film. I read that many people perfect to just photoshop the originals to get that affect.
