It made me sneeze just by looking at it. Nice shot!

I have a sort of similar image which I took at a fishing camp on the St John's River near Deland, Florida. I call him "The Enforcer".

I worked on one for a guy who wanted to use it for drag racing. Changing the turbo chargers to two screw-type superchargers, pushing air through six one-throat Weber carbs, and doing a bit to the internals of the engine, it ended up putting out nearly 400 hp on a chassis dyno. I also put in a beefed-up trans-axle from a Corvair truck. Needless to say, he never lost a race unless he red-lighted or did something else stupid. I seriously doubt that he ever took it to a serious NHRA meet as it would never have passed the tech inspection. But, it sure did give you a thrill to drop the clutch on it. It was OK as long as you kept it going straight. But with that swing axle, going around a curve could be dangerous with all that torque.

In my case, bad memories!

Must be near-sighted.

I have found a few good restoration "gigs" on Thumbtack here in Central Florida. Almost all requests are quite local, which adds to the value of the gig since there are not a lot of miles involved. I have also gotten quite a few very good referrals through Thumbtack customers.

The first one especially, but both are worth forwarding to a whole bunch of contemporaries. (I'm 73.)

I also often use a light box and one of my 5d's, especially if the slide is damaged at all. I use the same system to copy old glass images, anything "transparent" actually. For damaged originals it saves a huge amount of time in repairing the image.

The connection between a person and "their" dog is so strong that when either one passes, the other takes a loooong time to recover. Very sorry to hear!

The pelicans seem to be more numerous here than at other spots on the coast. Some these shots were taken at flood control locks there, and the last one standing on a dune above the famous Playalinda Beach. I promise I didn't look down at the beach. Most were taken with a Canon 5D with a 70 - 200 2.8 L IS, in my opinion one of the best lenses ever built. However, even with the stabilization, with moving targets toward the 200 mm end of the range, there is some lack of sharpness. Since these were taken, I have learned some about ISO vs. f stop vs shutter speed and tend to do a bit better now.

Sort of a similar image, but an anhinga with a kibitzer, a purple gallinule. This was taken some years ago at Shark Valley in the northern part of Everglades National Park. I did not record any particulars about lens/camera body, etc., but it is scanned from color positive film. The fish here is a walking catfish.

Maybe hole in the rocks gang. . . None of these guys looked well-fed. I was amazed that the one I watched could manage the fish. It must have weighed nearly as much as the cat did.

Cats are great subjects. I am always taking cell phone pics of ours. The problem with cats is that you never can get out your "good" camera for that great shot. They are gone or don't look the same or something.
