I am sorry, but I just spent the last two days reviewing more than 7000 pictures that I took on an African safari two years ago, and if I had read the quoted response I would never have gone. I have traveled over most of the world - Antarctica the only continent I have yet to visit- and I felt perfectly safe in Africa. The people, both in the cities and in the country were friendly and very helpful. Never did I feel threatened. I carried two expensive Olympus cameras and did not feel that the equipment was in danger. Of course, I took the same safety precautions that I would any where in the world (including many US cities). COVID and the possibility of getting sick in Africa is an altogether different issue. You will NOT get the same level of medical attention in the African outback that you would in the US or even Europe. So that may be the over arching consideration in your planning. Bottom line is that I would love to go back. It was by far one of the most enjoyable trips that we made.

I totally agree. I have spent a lot of time in Africa, especially East Africa, though also some time in the West. Never felt safer, as you take some basic precautions. For example, never go out at night alone in Dar-es-Salaam. At the same time, Kigali (Rwanda) is like the Switzerland of East Africa, they literally sweep the streets clean in the morning.
I have done plenty of safaries, always listen to the guides, and be aware: Hippos an Water Buffalo kill the most people in Africa. As long as you stay in your vehicle you will be safe. Lions, while you are in a vehicle, are safe.
Very nice series of photos. Here is my pet pieve as I through these series: Everybody is presenting the same motif from different perspectives, not picking the best of the lot. An art gallery would have a hard time as what to present. You do not do this mistake: every pictures is unique and carries value on its own.
Good shots, I would suggest you pick a favorite and make this your presentation.
Love the waterfalls, great shots!
You are right, it makes a world of a difference once you click download. Much nicer presentation. Thanks for pointing this out to me!
I am still a little bit of a newby here, so I don't know what download mode is. You can download the images from my web site,

Note: I consider the "Rainstorm" to be my best landscape so far...
Rainstorm over Lake Kivu (shot from the same spot, a day earlier, different direction, the island is in the Democratic Republic of Congo, single exposure (no HDR))
Sunrise over Bukavu
(HDR, 3 exposures)
The BMW Isatta had one key design flaw: After a front end collision, you could not exit it. It was actually a very cute, but dangerous, design. I have spotted one in a car parade a few years back in I believe it was Portland, Oregon...
Update: Final sales 11, I more than broke even, this was a great, great experience. Gallery photos can be found at bofingerphotography.net
I love good glass, working with HDR, and am happy to have my Nikon outfit..
One argument that was a fun, interesting one was with an academically published photographer in the immediate family: He argues that focal length increases with age! The older you get, the higher quality focal length you can afford. In that case, I am Benjamin Button: I am going quality wider and wider as I age...
