I’m with you. The problem I’m having is that I use a Mac mini as my main HD and therefore even though LR is cloud based, it seems to use the Mac Mini HD as a resource when uploading to the cloud. Even though I have enough space in the LR cloud, I get a message that my Mac mini HD is full and need to make space. Therefore uploading a cartload of photos from a safari shoot to LR in order to preview and select runs into a capacity issue because of the Mac mini HD. I guess I could add an SSD to the Mac mini. However this Fast RAW reviewer seems to work quite well - I usually download all my photos to a separate SSD anyway from the card and then connect that SSD to the Fast RAW reviewer. So my card is intact till I’m done with all selection and transfer to LrC.

Im not a big fan of removing things on the card...they do corrupt. I just take all pics off the card using a reader, upload to folder on my hard drive (or using LR Mobile locally AND the Adobe Cloud. A perfect back up system whilst traveling) and start working on those uploaded pics.
And if you're using LR mobile, use it to its fullest potential. Why use another program? It makes no sense. And why have a separate folder of photos you don't want? In LR you simply change the filter from selected to deselected. Then once you're done with that you delete the deselected pics freeing up drive space. And you can look at both selected and deselected to compare one last time in case there is a photo you may want to resurrect and work on.
But to each his own.
