[quote=Rongnongno]I have been reading quite a lot

Evidently Rongnongno you’ve been reading the funny books. If you would please do some solid research,
you would quickly realize that paid posts of “Best” are not worth a damn! Seek some professional sources
if you are really interested in gaining qualified reviews of whatever you’re interested in knowing about.
Truly qualified reviews can be found in Consumer Reports, for example. That publication has been in existence for a great many years. Check it out, Sir/Lady in your local library. Libraries can also help you find top notch reviews.
Just damning whatever you read ain’t worth much. As a professional researcher, I know what I’m talking about.
Try it, You’ll Like It.......as Mary Wells said a 1000 years ago when she ran her own ad agency.

Bento tripods Not flips tho. Recommended by pros who helped me with my SONY. Bento proved to be stable, and perfectly fine even with my telephoto lens.

I am thinking of driving up the coast from Charleston, SC to Chincoteague Island, Va this October to shoot lighthouses and spend the days antiquing or playing on the beach when I am not focused on shooting. What are some little known "non-touristy" spots that I may have missed when googling things to do in this area. Last October was spent on the coast of Maine photographing over 25 lighthouses up there and that entire coastline is just fabulous.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. The lighthouse is West Quoddy in Lubec, Maine.

The OuterBanks of North Carolina are terrific. Ocracoke Island is amazing. The language spoken there comes from old English. Even a one day ferry ride will prove to be amazing. Avoid the tourist traps.

I Presently own a Nikon D3300 & 5 Nikon Lens. I have learned and enjoyed my knowledge gained from my 1st DSLR Camera. Now, I am contemplating a New Camera, I think I will stay with the Crop-Sensor line, maybe move up to a used D5600 Body, since I already have 5 Nikon DSLR Lens. I have heard so much about the new MIRRORLESS Cameras, although I realize it would mean purchasing a whole new system of Photography Camera & Lens, not even sure I can afford my contemplated change. I am also at the age of 70 now and am not a Technology Genius, so maybe I have already answered my own question, "Should I take the Leap to MIRRORLESS, or be content with my current Equipment?? Ok, I guess I will leave this New impressive Technology to our Younger Generation.

Hello Silverrails,
I’m a lot older than you are. After using NikonBoy as a password for years and owning Nikons way back to ‘68,
I crossed the bridge a few years ago. I moved to the SONY mirrorless line. What I found was that I appreciated the fact that my SONY with just 2 lenses was easier and more flexible than my Nikons. Much less weight
to carry around on hikes, overseas trips, etc. it’s a great camera. Terrific for composing memorable photographs. Yes, it’s technically challenging. But you know something, Silverrails, as we get older, being
technically challenged is part of staying young. Most UHH’s have been reassuring for you. Nikon’s are great.
Your using the pro’s level of Nikons. However, variety is the spice of life.

Also note that the D50 has the in camera focus motor, that was deleted in future models. Greg.

Thank you Greg. I’d forgotten that. Much easier to focus. I’m using the SONY 6000 now.

Mr. Scruples,
Please lay off. We maintain a scholarship fund. I’d rather give my fine Nikon to a underprivileged young person
than donate it to your charity. Nor do we need any tax deduction. Bye Bye!

Hi cheez,

you stated: Please PM me at wph-mw@sbcglobal.net. Thanks...What does PM stand for please. Is that an email address?
It is still for sale. I would buy a new battery/charger for the camera from B&H. Will you pay for the postage? It would be bubble wrapped
and sent via UPS.

Hey Rob, Your photo of the Butterfly & Hummingbird is fantastic. You ought to share it with the Cornell School of Orthinology.

Dear Scruples, we’ll give your request some thought. Our son passed away during that war when Iraq tried to control Kuwait.

I would like to make you an offer. My son passed away five years ago and we set up a foundation in his honor (www.BGMFoundation.org). We are planning to make a donation to his former high school of a Canon 650, a 5D Mark II, some batteries, film, tripod, lenses and flashes. I will offer a tax deductible certificate (of a reasonable amount of your choice). We will place a brass plaque on the camera designating you as the donor. While many people these days want cash, I will understand your refusal. I will not be offended.

Dear Scruples,

We’re thinking about it. Our son, Joshua, passed away when he was 38 years old. He had been in the Air Force serving as a Navigator on the airplanes that flew from our airbase in Spain to Kuwait during that war.
Josh was one heck of a man. We’ll give your request some more thought. But a brass plaque would hardly be necessary.

In my not so humble opinion, smartphones will never replace the art of photography, the challenges inherent in a fine DSLR or a mirrorless camera. Smartphones are great for snapping pictures. A few might produce truly great photographs. Far as I'm concerned tho, the gross commercial value of cameras has little to do with the pleasure of achieving the knowledge and the eye for taking worthy photographs. Pianos will never be replaced by those little electronic models. Nikon, Canon, and its ilk drove up the commercial value of the total photography market. That may fall away, for sure. Today's Millennials and Gen-X may prefer smartphones to cameras. Let's not forget that new generations discover new things. Amen
