this little butterfly is subject to panic almost at the slightest movement so was very difficult to get a decent shot. its quite small about the size of a thumb nail. enjoy.

I am quite interested in learning to shoot at night but not getting good photos. I have started using a flashlight of sorts with no other light sources and this is helping but still not the shots that I prefer. I am not sure if I am setting something incorrectly or just plain dumb when it comes to this. any suggestions would help. example of what I am referring to is this.....bathing a waterfall in light at night so that the focal point is the waterfall...have a Canon OES Rebel XT DSLR...have these two lenses EFS 18-55mm Cannon Zom lens EF 75-300mm. not sure if there is any camera clubs in my area. im determined to learn how to do this.

Please critique...I cant give alot of specifics because these were taken in 2009. i do remember having this for the camera to make the settings correct. Dauphin island was very cloudy that day.

I am called Madambutterfly because of the love for them I have. They are beautiful and a significance to me as well. I try to capture a photo every chance I get of them and have not mastered getting them in flight. most people who really know me understand my love for the Butterflys.

i do not consider myself as a photographer. I enjoy photography however I have just learned a few things by trial and error. Novice would know more than I would I am sure so with that said I just keep shooting and hope for the best. I dont seem to understand alot on this camera so I am hoping to learn more as time goes by. I am from Mobile Alabama originally and I learned quite alot on an excursion to Dauphin Island that I made. I will try to post a few of those pictures. would be interested in finding out part of what I am doing incorrectly so that I can perhaps get a more shots that are of better quality.

i understand part of what I am doing wrong. I had better pictures of spotted purple however I cant seem to get a good shot unless its in the automatic category which annoys me. going to the creative side of this camera seems to elude me. sometimes i just seem to get lucky and get good shot such as the tiger. will keep trying. can you explain about the ISO keeping it low?
