.My Dad and I had many great times fishing at Reelfoot Lake back in the 60’s. The south end of the lake had all the dead cypress trees cut just below lake level. Boats were made with reversed oars and they had lawnmower size gasoline engines. The propeller came out back of boat protected with an underlying steel “shoe” to shield prop from underwater stumps. The southern part of lake was great for crappies. The northern part of lake was full of bass. However, the dead cypress trees were left intact and full size. Water moccasin snakes thrived in the trees and could drop into your boat. It was not very relaxing fishing with threat of getting bitten by poisonous snakes. Crappy fishing was fabulous. One morning we went through 10 dozen minnows in “2 hours”. We usually ate at the Blue ‘Star’ Cafe. Lots of grease and hush puppies. Wonderful memories with my Dad!!
Banff and Lake Louise are overrated. Would drive the Icefields Parkway to Jasper. Jasper is a neat town with many nearby sites of nature’s finest. We hiked up to Angel Glacier which was exhilarating. There are many waterfalls and gorgeous lakes… Bow, Peyto, Emerald. The most memorable is Lake Moraine which is surrounded by 10 peaks. At sunrise you need to be atop “the rock pile”to see the sun reflecting off the mt tops lighting up the turquoise water. Walking around the shore in the evening is serene. Unfortunately it’s necessary to stay there overnight to be allowed the best opportunities. Everywhere else there are snow covered mt peaks turn after turn for miles. This is the prettiest scenery I have ever seen. You feel God’s presence every day you’re there.
Sounds great! Thanks for your suggestions. Looking forward to the opportunities. Terry
WOW!! AWESOME photos!! Really love the beautiful lake thawing and the snow covered mountains reflecting on the dark blue water. Also, I am a train guy so I really like that capture. Still have working Lionel trains from my younger days. You have really been helpful and stimulate my enthusiasm even more. I can see why one would not want to leave that place in the world. Thank you so much. Terry
Thank you so much. That’s quite a list but I’ll certainly try to see all I can. Appreciate your quick response . I’m really looking forward to this trip. Terry
? “Must see/do” from Jasper, AB to Banff, AB. Thanks. Terry
Use it to “mash” fresh strawberries when making freezer jam.
Good memories! Would like to see some of your turn 1 Indy photos. My first 500 was in 1958. Thanks
Thank you so much for your efforts. Hopefully will get in touch with Rolf and get the ball rolling. I appreciate your help. Terry in Indy
Have seen his website and sent him 2 emails inquiring about his tours. I have received no answer after 1 week so I thought he might not be legitimate or may have given up his business. I was really excited at first and from your experiences, rightfully so. By any chance, do you have a phone contact for him? I am glad that you had such Awesome Experiences. I hope I can have half that much luck and fun. Thank you very much. Terry in Indy
Glad you avoided most of those horrible fires. You’ve gotten me even more excited about this adventure. Thanks for all of your input plus enthusiasm. Will let you know how it all turns out. Terry
What an EXTENSIVE GREAT GROUP of People! I can’t believe the number of respondents to my request for help in getting to see and photograph the Orcas. And now you are contacting me from Down Under. WOW! I would love to see your part of the world. I’ve seen so many fabulous pictures, however my desire to come there is not quite as powerful as my dislike of long flights. I bet you make some tasty shrimp. I appreciate your advice about the Zodiacs. Your pictures are Awesome. What was your choice of lens? I’ve really got to live out this desire/dream to see those amazing Orcas. We don’t have exciting wild life here but we have exciting wheel-to-wheel Indy car racing at >220 miles/hr. ?what that is in Kilometers/hr. I got to ride in one at 185. It didn’t make me sick like your so-in-law. That had to be horrible in so many ways and didn’t even get to see those beautiful monsters of the sea. Thank you for responding and for your suggestions and pictures. Enjoy that warm weather and hopefully no more fires. Terry in Indy
Spoke with them today and plans are coming together. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the great input and photos. I really want to see those Orcas!
