Thanks for replying. Hate what those union-busters did. Thanks for nothing, Ronald Reagan.

Love the picture of the factory. What did you do there? What company was it?

Wow, some images. Very nice, but hope no one lost their home or was injured.

Hi, everyone. It's me again. Just want to say I got the D90 fixed. B&H recommended a camera repair place and they got the D90 running again. It seems to be working fine now, although, truth be told, I really film over digital. I seem to get better results, but I'm still learning how to utilize the D90.

Anyway, just want to thank you all for your responses and advice
Ken

I've been using a Nikon D90 for about two years since I bought if off E-bay. Prior to that I used a N80, also purchased from E-bay which gave me great results. The D90, unfortunately, has been a disappointment. It seems to me I get better results with slide film, the saturated colors looking more vibrant. No so with digital images. Some images come out fine. Others just don't seem to that "omph." I had the camera checked out three times at seminars offering free check-up The unanimous opinion is the camera works fine. Maybe it's me. Or maybe it's just old technology. I can't get over the results I get with my I-phone. Trouble is, I can't put different lenses on an I-phone. It's not real photography unless I can look through a viewfinder in lieu of a LCD screen.

I'd like to use film again, since I have some Agfachrome in my freezer, but it processed may be a process. Duggal's, in NYC, where I've been taking my film for years is closed. And they did commercial work! Maybe I can send the film away somewhere, but don't know where just yet.

Thanks, but I don't think I want to get another D90 since Nikon no longer services them. I don't mind buying a used camera provided I can get the thing fixed if necessary.

The used model I bought had a low shutter count, so I'm disappointed over only having it for a little over a year.

Hi, folks. I have a Nikon D90 which I bought off E-bay about a year ago. Two weeks ago while shooting at a classic car show the thing stopped working. The mirror is stuck in a half-way position. Took it to two different repair shops in New York. One said Nikon no longer services the D90. The other said it could be fixed if the parts were found, but it would be expensive and getting a new(er) might be a better option.

Anyone know of any place that might be able to fix the D90? If I were to get a new(er) camera, what would be a good Nikon model. I'd like to keep using the F-mounted lenses and the battery pack. Don't want anything too expensive, around $500, and would like to get something that Nikon still services.

Thanks,
Ken

No, it wasn't. And besides, there were no other witnesses.

Go on YouTube and enter "Angry Photographer." This guy does critiques of Nikon lenses from the best to the worse that I'm sure you'll find helpful.

Thanks for responding. Today I went to B&H in New York and bought a Epson V550 scanner. I was going to buy the V600, but the salesman talked me into the less expensive model, which he says does everything the V600 does. It was easy to set up and I even scanned a few slides. So far, so good. The trouble, however, is there are no instructions on just how to scan slides or photos. The salesman jotted down some settings I should use: Photo, 300 dpi; slides, 2400 dpi to 3200 dpi; Un-sharp mask "on;" Auto-exposure "on." I'm going to have to play around with it.

By the way, I tried using a slide duplicator that I attached to my Nikon D90, thinking that would be economical. I was not satisfied with the results. The images were too dark, even when I aimed the lens straight at a slide projector bulb. And there was way too much cropping. I compose my pictures carefully and don't like when things are chopped out. That's one reason I prefer slides film over print.

Which amount to one minute per slide. Not bad. I guess I can assume it would take that amount of time if I were scanning twelve slides in one batch. Thanks for answering.

Hey, what's up? I'm considering getting an Epson scanner. I'm looking at either a V600, which I can afford, or something like the V750 or V800, which cost a few more bucks. My question is how fast do Epson scanners scan 35mm slides? The reason I ask is that the V600 will hold four slides. The V750 and V800 will hold twelve. I have tons of slides I want to scan and would like to do any many as possible, which is why I'm leaning towards to more expensive scanners. But does the amount of slides being scanned at one time affect the speed of the scanner? I'd like to scan in Professional mode and about 48000 dpi. Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ken
