In the dead of winter someone from the Lakes area sent some amazing pictures of the frozen lake/lakes. I'm wondering if they've thawed, some, all... what's it look like now? Wonder how long it takes for a lake to melt? Any pics to share? Thx much

This sounds like a good idea but I haven't got a clue as to how to go about doing it. I thought too that it's impossible to see his outline, hair/suit. I'll work on it, see if I can figure it out; thx much for the suggestion.

OH, WOW both pictures are so wonderful, thank you so much. I wanted to print the pic, and now will be able to, can't tell you how I appreciate it.
My grandson, born 2 months premature, on my birthday no less... now a man, with a long distance girlfriend, and Lord willing with a future committed to each other and God.

I'd like to attach a pic and have someone pls explain, using Elements 10 how I would go about removing the head/face of the fellow in the background (right). I've used Elements 10 only for cropping. Thx SO SO much.

I'd like to take this opportunity also to thank you for sharing the pictures of your unique experience on Lake Michigan. Great to be able to see these things that we wouldn't otherwise.

when I downloaded the pic, I saw you had icicles hanging from the branches and twigs... don't know that I've seen that before, maybe just never took notice of them.
It's just been very difficult for me to get what I'm happy with. Proof that God made eyes much better than man makes cameras... at least that's the conclusion I've come to, sure some won't agree.

Montgomery Co, guess it would be northern, Quakertown, Souderton area.
Don't know where Waynsboro is, but sounds like possibly near Gettysburg area, and I am a bit familiar with out there, beautiful area, especially up around Martinsburg; ever been there?
Have to look at the last ones I took yesterday, see if there's anything worth posting.
Not really a good one, but shows our view from the house at sunrise.

Well, am thankful for the many suggestions from many good sources, BUT am also able to hear that others are having the same issues capturing all that sparkle that our wonderfully God given eyes are able to see. Thx so much for all the input... our ice in southeast PA all left yesterday afternoon when the temp got near 30 with a clear, bright sun. Some light snow predicted again this weekend or Wed. Oh, even tried my 'scene' mode for snow, but no improvement.
Erv: I always enjoy reading your clips, thx. What became of the neighbor boy you were mentoring? guess that was mos. ago, but remember that he had some good shots that you posted. Commendable that you take the time and effort with him.

RaydancePhoto: never thought of trying it with flash, would be ok close, but I'm usually trying to shoot sparkling scenery that's ice covered, not close but will try, interesting suggestion.
Wall-E: those were just 3 I picked from the many many I took, trying as many different settings. Will try again if ice remains.
thx much again to you all,

thx much for the suggestion, will try it, even tho the ice is leaving quickly, may be able to get a few more shots today. Temp is nearly 30, but the ice was thick. Guess you probably experienced the same in NY. It surely was beautiful, and even this mid morning was still good, but it's definitely melting now. thx again.

HI Sue, the reflection is really nice, and yes the birds look like a robin and definitely a flicker. Did you see my reflection pics of Christopher Dock H.S. a few days ago? Leaves are going to be changing shortly; am hoping for some nice pics from upstate. Hope others will show theirs too.

This subject of homelessness is close to my heart/life from experience.
I spent about 6 hrs in the ER on Saturday with a relative who has a mental health diag., refuses medications, refuses advise, continues to make poor choices, is unable to keep a job longer than weeks, and constantly moves from one apt. or rooming house to another. There IS much help available, free food, shelter, counseling, medications BUT IT NEEDS TO BE ACCEPTED.
The picture shared is sad... but it's not the whole picture.
Thank you for sharing.

The following pictures were taken last evening. The building is located on the grounds of Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, Lansdale, PA.
My son works at this school and was able to turn off some of the outside lights but not all. The pond makes for a beautiful reflection.
Pictures were taken with my D7000. My tripod is cheap and unsteady and the remote's battery was out of power. Yes, I know I should check/replace these things BEFORE shooting. Now, pls tell me what you would do differently, and how I could improve, for the next time. No PP done, not even a crop. Thx much, and neg. comments are also well accepted. judy
