My recommendation price and performance wise is the Canon EOS M50. You can often get a super buy on a Canon refurbished model. It has lens compatibility with other Canon DSLRs when you use the EF/EFS lens converter (I use the canon model, but there are a number of cheaper non oem models that seem very good), it is smaller and lighter, but just as capable as the larger DSLR models with the same size crop sensor as the other Canons recommended. Great pictures indoors with just ambient light are capable with this camera (important for family pics). A reconditioned M50 from Canon and either the lens converter or an additional lens is within her price window. Biggest issue is limited set of native lenses, but the converter opens up a plethora of both Canon and non-oem lenses for the this camera. Read the reviews on this camera. If you make the choice to choose this camera, you won't regret it.

I remember the Blue Laws in the State of Maryland, where the State mandated no stores being opened on Sunday. Here is a store, owned by religious people who want to make sure that the Sabbath is observed for them and their employees. They could be open on their Sabbath and make more money, but they instead respect their traditions and close for their Sabbath. They not only observe the ritual laws of their religion (the Sabbath) but seem to be observant of their ethical laws as well and almost all of the reviews regarding B&H are extremely positive especially with regards to them standing behind the products that they sell and going the extra mile to make their customers happy. UHH members consistently rate them high. I've bought quite a lot from B&H over the past few years and have many a conversation with their staff to determine what would be the best product for my needs. They are very good and honest and we should not complain (especially when they note that they are closed on their Sabbath and Holidays on their web pages) that they observe both the ritual laws as well as the ethical laws of the bible. So they close from Friday at sundown to after sundown on Saturday, while the Post Office is closed on Sunday as well as the Banks, so why complain about B&H being closed on Saturday??? I am happy that they are honest both spiritually as well as ethically.

Another tool that can be used if you have it in your tool box is a strap wrench (a rubber band pipe wrench) that is used in plumbing and auto work. Lots of stores sell them, Harbor Freight has a dual set https://www.harborfreight.com/rubber-strap-wrench-set-2-pc-69373.html?cid=paid_google|||69373&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0Mb3BRCaARIsAPSNGpWdFSLaogKCqMWWroJKgHmucLVKA6ot8tkHKnAbyMcgPEv_Ap8creMaAooIEALw_wcB as does Home Depot and Walmart, Sears, Kmart etc. I would use the smallest one you can get. Advantage is that in can apply more torque for the turning process.

My chargers that came with my eneloops that I bought at Costco, tell me when the batteries will no longer hold a charge well, they blink, at that time I think it is time to toss them and buy new ones. With good use and care, your eneloops and similar long discharge batteries should last for a number of years. I find 5 years or more use from my better batteries. I use them primarily for flashes and radio controlled devices. I've retired all of my non long-discharged batteries as they all stopped holding charges after just a year or so, while the long discharge batteries seem to last 5 or so years. I like the idea of writing the dates on your batteries when you first buy them or put them into action.
