very nice. love all the curves and the eye detail.
it takes a long lens - i use a 200-500 f5.6 zoom- and some cropping to get as close as i'd like. the nest is right in the heart of urban DC - 10 minutes by bicycle from the Key Bridge (between Georgetown and Arlington).

What fantastic captures. Had to be a treat for you. Is the nest close?
Kids getting ready for flight any day. Fooling around this evening (and violating local anti-dumping ordinances). then mom shows up. Pix 4, 5 and 6 in this sequence are each one second apart. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmkZE8w8 Here are two samples from this small set.

Super photos, Pat. Hope someday I can get shots like that!
Thanks, Katydid! But remember what the real estate people say: Location, location, location!
These birds didn't like each other, or maybe they were only hungry. More in the Flickr album I posted on trip last weekend to Fort DeSoto Park in Florida. https://flic.kr/s/aHskAqUxiJ

I think it's a juvenile reddish egret, but not totally sure.
Correction: It's a juvenile yellow-crowned night heron.

Happy meal looks like he's skipping for joy across the water. Like the light on his wing. What kind of bird?

A lot of birds captured here on an expedition last weekend. More on a Flickr album here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskAqUxiJ

Yes I got one from my local dealer on Valentine's Day after giving up on B&H unending wait list. I think it's pretty fantastic and a step up from the 810. I've posted a few shots here on UHH, more on my Flickr site such as this set from a fantastic bird sanctuary in FL a couple of weeks ago: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmhamcQW
excellent. #2 is my favorite. on # 1 i suggest toning down highlights on bird's back.
handsome! # 1 and # 4 are my faves.
excellent. the eye is in good focus which is key. Personally I would crop it at the water edge as the shoreline stuff is distracting.
