Animals in action are almost always wonderful to shoot. I have more pics of tails in my archives than of catch-light, but the tails remain (mostly) hidden.

How many FPS? Was there time to see it, then press the shutter button? One must see a lot of sunrise/sunsets over the ocean to see one (I always thought).

Dynamic situations are tough to compose a background. If the situation is static, one can work more with composing. For wildlife, it is often luck, but sometimes one does have time to arrange to have that patch of snow immediately behind the subject. And perhaps it will be just behind where the grizzly is opening its mouth while the salmon jumps into it. Background is just one more thing to consider when shooting. Some may have a natural talent for it, but it can be developed with study and practice.

Cannons make such great leading lines. Walk Picket's charge -- imagine marching in the face of cannon fire.

Wonderful shot. Spawning salmon -- good pickings for birds & bears (and photographers).

Makes me nostalgic for Brookfield. The high road to walk through is great.

Snapfish is customizable, but sometimes unilaterally decides to crop what I have already cropped. One needs to manually set each picture -- but still easier than learning Photoshop.

Biologists call the animal a "buson," but I do not give a buffalo nickel what biologists may call it -- American English calls it a buffalo.

Looks like someone will get blown to Oz -- or, perhaps, just to Lititz.

I am jealous. TR is great -- almost Yellowstone without geysers or crowds. It will be a "highlights only" trip, but what spectacular highlights. One filter should do -- you are recording memories. Sometimes you will want a small aperture with greater depth of field. There is no need to ALWAYS blur a waterfall -- without perfectly enchanting lighting in the surroundings, they look fake (to me).

I would Crop #2. (I crop way too much.)

Crop down to emphasize the moss-covered old-timer, which is extremely interesting. There is some interesting contrast with the younger trees in the background, but without interesting backlight or something additional, the younger trees are a mere contrast. (I have a million pictures like that -- the scene was pleasant, but difficult to re-create something dazzling with the camera.)

I think the 2nd shot is magnificent, with the sow showing the cub the way to climb. The remainder are merely excellent.
