Hi, I would also recommend B&H Photo. They are out of New York City and have a superb web site that has tons of great info about products and very easy to navigate. They also have Experts that can advise you either through email, text, or by phone;
https://www.bhphotovideo.com. They have been very helpful as I have purchased several pieces of photography equipment including my Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens.
This is all great advice, thanks to everyone. I did not take the comment as a slam. Unfortunately we've been very busy assisting my In Law's and I just lost track plus I haven't been shooting as much since Oct, so I'm trying to get back into where I left off then. I had just forgotten I asked the same question then. But again thanks to everyone, great advice.
Linda/all, I apologize for my duplication. I forgot to check that I had asked the same question awhile back. Thank you for the reminder and the advice.

Hi, I've been enjoying my DSLR Canon 80D for over 3 years. I'm currently using a Tamron 18-400mm lens. I mostly take photos of Birds and Nature, some Landscape as well. I'm still shooting in JPEG and so far it is fine. I'm also only using the photo processing program that comes with my Apple Mac operating system. We recently moved to NC and I have joined a local photo club (Carolina Nature Photographers). I've been encouraged to make to switch to RAW. I realize that you have to have a photo processing program/app to work with the RAW, and clearly should have it before you start shooting in RAW. I've received some great advice for the folks here on my questions previously. So all that said, I would welcome any advice on how to start shooting in RAW and what processing programs should I consider. I am aware and have received numerous recommendations for Lightroom. Although I have met a few folks who prefer Photoshop. Thanks for any advice you care to provide.

Thanks everyone, all of this has been great advice. It is very much appreciated.
Thanks this is very helpful.
Hi, I’m looking to upgrade my DSLR camera lens. I’m shooting a Canon 80D. I’m strongly considering the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens. I have also been encouraged to consider the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF. I do understand that the Sigma lens will have more range, of course that comes with a bit more weight. I mostly shoot Nature and Wildlife (Birds), hand held although I do use a tripod as necessary. So I am concerned about weight. But I’m also looking for the better quality lens for what I’m shooting. I welcome your advice.
chevman, thanks, I see you're at Mathews, I'm in Summerfield, NC; my Brother-in-law is in Mathews too.
CHG Canon, I am not yet familiar with the difference between 8 vs 16 bit processing. I will look into it.
camarapapi, thanks for the great advise. I am still working on my composition and chasing the light for the jpeg shooting. But I think that will be a continuous process to prevent falling back into bad habits. I will work on it all. Thanks again
a6k, thanks very much. This is very helpful
Do you have any recommended jpeg editing programs?
a6k, you're correct, I apologize for any confusion. I have an older Mac so I'm using macOS High Sierra, that is the highest os my system can take. Thanks for the clarification.
PH Rubin, I use Apple systems and IOS. On my iMac the operating system has "Photos" which allows you to organize your photos and it allows you to edit them. This is only editing program I have used. But in discussions and reading about others, I consider this one a very basic program. It probably does some of what others do, but I think many others do much more.
