My wife and I just came back from a four week safari in Kruger National Park. The total cost was $5,300 excluding food. I did the booking myself and it was a self guided tour. My wife is 76 and I am 75. She wants to go back in this coming August. Not necessarily recommending this way but it is an alternative. Attached is a couple of pictures that we took.

Great photo of the cheetah. I have never seen one in the KNP. Self guided is the best way to visit the Kruger Park which we have done many times. Total freedom to self cater and self drive. My wife and I do all our own bookings and hire a car. One saves a ton of money. The only downside is the cost and length of the flight from the USA to SA.

continue to work in post. This trip was worth every penny. It was number one on my bucket list. At 86 I would love to go again. Maybe for my 90th.

Great to see photos of the "little five" as well

I'm looking for my top 10 and I'm sure these will make the list.
This the only leopard sighting we saw. He was digging for water in a dry river bed. Finding none he moved on. His back was always through us. I asked him to look at me and smile........no luck.

Still a great leopard shot and a lovely one of the lilac-breasted roller

Mush have seen over a 100 of these big guys. The wonder of the trip is that you can drive of over an hour and then this is what you see around the next bend. We traveled mostly on paved roads and the wildlife are always close by.
See you tomorrow

Great detail and the bush looks lovely and green. What camps did you stay at?

You do not need a converter for electronic devices. Your chargers accept the voltage difference and will show : AC100-240 50/60Hz 14VA-23VA
All you need is the South African 3-prong plug that is sold in Walmart to accommodate the USA 2 or 3-prong plugs.

Well i did it. I booked the Safari, my flight and more flights. everything is paid so here I go.
At 86 this is my dream trip. 15 days in the bush with 4 other shooters in the van. Everyday is nothing but us and our cameras. The only down side is the concern that either the us or sa will shut down the trip. I got all of my gear packed and ready to go. will leave sfo on march 3 and return march on march 20. Really looking forward to this trip.

Have a wonderful trip and say Hi!! to the country I was born in. If you are going to a malaria aera take precautions.
We will be looking for your trip report and photos at the end of March. Which part of S.A. are you going to visit?
Go Well.

Thanks to DebAnn I have booked a 15 day safari. Will leave sfo on 3/3 and return on 3/20. The trip i booked is very close to my dream trip. 14 days with 2 game drives per day and only 5 photographer on the trip.
Everything had a down side and mine is a 21 hour flight.
