They are indeed Bleeding Hearts. My mother grew them in our backyard, I loved these as a child(still do)Nice old fashioned flower, you don't see them around as much anymore:(

Beautiful light in both shots, like the composition better in the 2nd one. Feels like I'm there!

Took these shots last fall, when my grandson saw them he asked "Was the Farmer mad at you?". Lol, He must have thought when I said I took them I really took them.

C & C most welcome.

These are all beautiful photos! I particularly like the first one, the duck. I love the patterns of the feathers, the blue of the water and that little bit of blue in the feathers. very sharp photo!

Here are some basically brown birds. They show that brown can be a very attractive color and it is not reserved for the UPS truck!

A good photo isn't really about equipment.Obviously a $4000 camera or lens will hopefully take better shots than a 400 dollar one, but only in the hands of someone who knows how to utilize it. Photography is about the light, so the light can often make or break a photo. As far as composition goes, humans are hardwired to see certain visual stimuli as pleasing and others as not(check out the Gestalt Principles). I once had a professional photographer tell me that when people said they didn't like his pictures he would say, they just didn't get it. LOL! I like that line. Photography is art and we all know art is subjective. Personally I am still learning what make a great photo, and photography has a huge learning curve.:)

So many of the discussions in UHH revolve around Hardware. Also Canon vs, Nikon etc. etc.
My question to you is,
What do you think makes a great photograph.
I am sure your assessment will have nothing to do with Make of camera, lens, aperture or focal length
In the end the power of the image is what is meaningful to you.
So lets hear from Uhh members their take on What makes a great photo.
different strokes for different folks.

I'm finding the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 II is a pretty good lens for street type photography.

First shot is at f/2.8- 1/1600- iso 400 second at f/3.5 1/50- iso 640 third f/8 1/125 iso 100. All shot without a flash and at 35mm focal length.

I've been doing a little bit of everything in Photoshop without spending too much time lately and I like the combination of luminosity masks, masks and "blend if" used together.

I don't claim to be perfect of to everyone's taste but I like what is possible.

Actually did a band shoot indoor (first shot) with no flash (had three with me) and got some great results, but it takes some freeze action cooperation...

cheers
