Black bears all over the park today. Mammoth, Tower Falls, Calcite Springs, Blacktail Plateau, Blacktail meadows. One very blonde grizzly west of floating island lake.
Late getting to the park today because Beartooth Pass, Sunlight Basin, and Sylvan Pass roads were all closed due to heavy snow. Had to come in through Gardiner.

Thanks MT- sprnding tonight in Idaho Falls and will be in the park tomorrow.

Folks- I'm heading to Yellowstone, camping in Canyon campground. I's been 2 years ago in August since my last photo trip and I'm going to focus (yes, pun meant) on wildlife this trip. Had some decent luck with Grizzly Bear, a couple of wolves & eagles last trip in Lamar Valley.

So-- I'm planning on early AM and late afternoons-evenings in Lamar and Hayden. I know I can get plenty of Bison in the Valleys as well as Elk in Mammoth. Any advice or other locations? I'll have a week to shoot. I know MT Shooter is there quite a bit and had some good advice for me on my last trip.

Thanks- Brian

Hey Folks,
I’m heading back to Yellowstone in early part of June, it’s been a couple of years since my last visit. My secondary purpose on this trip is to shoot Prismatic from the new overlook and early AM photos of Old Faithful and Grand Canyon Of Yellowstone. My primary focus on my 6 day trip will be devoted to shooting wildlife. Ive shot previously at Lamar & Hayden Valley’s and I’d really like any input on how to be most successful in capturing Bears, Wolves, etc in those areas or others that may not be as well noted.
Thanks- Brian

Sounds like Delicate Arch is THE popular spot. I’ll get there very early at least one morning for sure and see how it goes with the crowds!!

Great advice! I’m always up in AM to get the sunrise shots, can’t go that far to sleep in! I’ll check out the book and I use the TPE app, so I’m set there. I’ll have to look at driving time from Devils Garden to Delicate to be good to go for arrival/hiking time- Brian

That sounds like good advice! I am reminded by that frequently by my wife. When I’m out by myself, I find it wise to follow that advice.

Thank you- pretty much took your design, even longer painters pole. Use my Manfrotto head attached to post. Drilled 3 holes in post and through aluminum top of painters pole and attached with bolts/wingnuts. This way I’m able to remove and shorten the painters pole so it will fit in the back of my Subaru Outback. Finally, I used a 7 gallon bucket and centered a schedule 40 PVC pipe about 3’ long and filled bucket with concrete to be used for additional “holding power” for the base of the pole. With my D810 on top, I felt that I really needed a good anchor to “help” stabilize the tripod. You really nailed it with your design!!
