I still use filters, especially red and orange for b & w images. As for flashes, never.

I have to agree with you on HDR images. Frequently it is completely over the top, resulting in a hideous remnant of the original image, and I cannot for the life of me begin to imagine what the photographer had in mind.

I have a couple of these pesky things living in my attic, like a lot of my neighbours this year. We had a colder than usual winter. However I had fun making a one way device that will let them out but not back in. As for the cuteness factor, I don't see them that way anymore.
