Not having to think in terms of 20-24 or 36 makes taking photographs of large events SOO much easier and quicker. My finger would fall off after the amount of shots a 64 gig card can handle

My first SLR was a Nikkormat that I purchased in Vietnam. All the guys in my unit shot either Pentax or Nikon, but I think it had to do with availability and the sign-out cameras were all Nikon Photomics. Years later I saw a Canon F1 on sale and jumped on it, never to change again. I shot the 10D and 20D for several years and now shoot the 70 and 80D bodies with a variety of L lenses. I have always been happy with sharpness and contrast and see no reason to switch. I went through a Minolta phase (they were excellent), a Leitz Minolta point and shoot, Rollieflex, Hasselblad, and Pentax 6x7. I also shot with Yashicamat, Mamiya, etc. All served their purpose admirably. I also had a Sony mirrorless that took great photos but had lousy battery life. There is just something about Canon that speaks to me, and I listen. Although, the Nikon 850 sounds like it might be worth a look, but as I always found with Nikon, I just can't afford it now that I am retired. Oh, well. Thanks for bringing up the question. It is great to hear everyone's reasoning. Sometimes I think the answer is what was on sale at the time.

I shot Pentex in Vietnam, later had 3 almost complete sets of Nikon's. They were stolen and with the insurance $s I found that canon was a lot less expensive and just as good, made the change.
Not with 5D 4, 70D, 9 lenses, 100-400/70-200 are new, I'm a happy camper

Didn't know they had doors till after being back a few years, joined the Nat Guard, got in and was amazed when they shut the doors. Most fun sitting on the door sill with your legs hanging out.

This coming October I will be doing a three week driving tour of the Western US. I will be starting in Southern IN and driving to Jackson Hole, WY - from there to Salt Lake City - then to Moab - from there to Santa Fe- and then loop back to IN. Obviously, there are great photo ops at those main locations, but I am looking for some lesser known locations along the way in Missouri, Nebraska, Wyoming(from Cheyenne to Jackson), northern Utah, the panhandle of Texas, and Oklahoma. Any suggestions for you will be greatly appreciated.

I sincerely thank you for your input.

Be ready for anything to come up.
At one wedding the maid of honor brought black undies for the bride.
This was a high end Spanish wedding, the bride wore a crochet wedding dress, a very spectacular dress .
My wife, after calming down everyone, took the bride into the bathroom and wrapped the undies in toilet paper, all well went well
When you do the standup, you must have a 1st Sgt type take charge
He/she positions each group, start with the Bride then groom, then one with them with each families parents , then both families, and so on. Also gets rid of gum, funny faces etc.
Keeping control is hard, people want to party, etc
But the it's a one off event, that's where you or your assistant must be in charge, if you can shoot that stand ups prior to the wedding, may take some talking but it sure makes life easier for ALL involved.
The assistant may be the most important person on the shoot, he/she is focused on everything, not just taking the photos. this will relive you of a lot of garbage to worry about and let you focus on the job
Good luck, relax and enjoy

Wonderful cars, but if the new one my SE drove was any example of the current QC, be prepared for some pain. His was trucked to the shop dead (electrical issues) no less than 11 times in 2 years. I hope his was an anomaly - kind of reminds you of Lucas (prince of darkness) electricals.

The British drink warm beer because Lucas also made refrigerators

Is not your goal to find things to complain about? Wake up.
I read his reply and thought about the fact that I came here for photography and was pleasantly surprised with Jerry's post. Way cool video. Something I would have never took time to find on my own.
If we just ignore the troll's responses like his/hers then they will go away. We make it fun for them when we complain about the fact that they're complaining.
Cheers, and keep shooting,
Marion
