I agree. And I find it difficult to lump this camera into the point and shoot category. Perhaps the industry should create a new category and call it "Bridge Cameras," to differentiate it from compact cameras, and then form another category called "Compact Cameras" to pull them out of the point and shoot group, and leave "point and shoot" to those simple cameras that allow little if any manual control over the camera--truly point and shoot cameras. At least that might remove some of the stigma attached to compact cameras.

Good point. The RX10 lll is a professional camera...it deserves to be in a different category. P & S doesn't connote professional cameras.

The best buy for the best P & S camera is the Sony RX10 mark lll with the Zeiss lens.

I believe that the best is a ZEISS polarizer. Of course they are very expensive. I have one and it's excellent. You won't be wasting your money if you buy one.

Aperature priority with auto shutter speed AND auto ISO is my favorite setup for 90 percent of the shots I shoot. I use a Sony RX 10 mark 3.

Which will promptly defeat the purpose of a lens hood by allowing stray light onto the lens.

Just adjust the CPL then install the hood.

I have noticed over the past months that your answers to questions about photography are succinct and always correct. Just wanted you to know that there are folks who pay attention to your responses.

Well, I recommend a used Sony bridge camera with a Zeiss lens. Even if it's more than $100 it's worth the $$$. I would buy only a factory refurbished used camera.

I have the M3 and it’s great, really great, and I don’t have any focusing problems. When the M4 came out I checked it out and concluded that the newer focusing system definitely isn’t worth $500. I recommend you save the $500 and buy an M3....you’ll really love it.

I have visited the Isle of Lunga in the Treshnish Isles, Scotland several times and going back again next year. This uninhabited island is an amazing bird sanctuary with Puffins and other species. This is an older image from 2008 with a Nikon D70, Nikkor 18-70mm lens at 70mm, f/10, 1/400s.

Looking forward to going back next year with a better camera and lens.

I suppose you could get a better image with a better camera and lens but I think the image you have is A- OK!

What steps are required to determine how many times the shutter has been pushed on full frame cameras?
Thanks in advance, Ricker

Excellent photos. Really crisp images. I assume you used a Leica lens. Is that the case?
