Control points in DXO PL or NIK do not require any painting. You just place the control point on the subject area and it selects the area by sensing brightness, color and contrast. You can shorten or widen the circular area as needed. These links will give you am overview:

Thanks for those links. Although I have PL6, I haven't done much experimenting with control points.

Thank you everyone for the informative posts and information.

DaveJ & SuperflyTNT - you both got incredible results using both programs. Thanks for sharing those. I own Photolab 6 Elite and like the noise reduction but those are the types of results I was wondering if I would get (only on occasion if needed) by using both. And not just the noise reduction but also any benefits from the sharpening and upsizing if needed in Photo AI.

I don't have Lightroom, only an older version. Do you recommend saving the processing from PL6 as a .dng or .tif file to open up in Topaz?

Thanks. I have downloaded the trial but was hoping for some pointers or tips from those that use both in their workflow.

This is probably somewhat of a newbie question to most, but I currently own Photolab 6 and was considering adding Topaz AI. I almost always shoot in RAW and was wondering if anyone out there uses both of these programs and your workflow with them?
