Perfect reply, Papa Joe, could not say it better! I wanted to post my response as well (which would be essentially identical to yours), but you did it first.
The closest to your requirements camera that I know of is Panasonic DMC-ZS100: it is small, has 10x zoom and a viewfinder (and even 1" sensor).
Both cameras are good, everything depends on your preferences. Because of different sensor sizes (APS-C vs Micro 4/3), Sony's lenses tend to be heavier that Olympus', maybe this will be essential for you. On the other hand, Sony has great Zeiss lenses producing great pictures. But on the other hand, these lenses are ver-r-r-y expensive. Etc, etc. I myself went through these tortures, trying to buy my first mirrorless camera half a year ago. Tried Sony, did not feel comfortable with it (after DSLR it felt too small). Then accidentally tried Samsung NX1 and ... loved it. And bought it. And a month later Samsung went out of photo business! (Got scared of me?) Anyway, now I have a great camera for which only a very limited set of lenses exists, which probably will not grow. Any suggestions?
