I know this is the barn thread. This was a great old barn. I love the distressed look. I'm sure it has some stories of it's own. Hannah and Pride just happen to be blocking our view. lol

This is Hannah and Pride, about 8 years ago. I adopted this miniature horse as an 18 month old and had just brought him home. The two of them hit it off right away. This was the moment when the two of them decided that they were going to compete at the state fair... and they did. Precious memories.

I love the second version. The black and white invites you to join the bride spiritually. It makes me want to get into her head. Is she praying for a long lasting life with her beloved?

The color in the first version provides a little energy. It makes me feel like she's getting ready to turn and say, Okay, here goes!"

hi everyone.. i'm relatively new to photography and have a final project due for my photo II class... an interesting series of five photos that tells a story. my brain is empty at this point.. any advice would be appreciated. i'm not allowed to take any more pics of my kids..people call them my pets... ho humm... thanks and happy thanksgiving!!!

Laced,
I see many giving you ideas, I think you are cheating yourself. This is supposed to challenge your creativity not others. Think of things that have inspired you, things that have made you change your mind. This is to help you, in my estimation you are looking for the easy way out and are lazy.

OUCH! Why don't you tell us what you really feel? Ideas can be thrown out without description or detail. I recently had the same sort of project. I went to a dog agility qualifying competition and my nephew's hockey game. How about a public dog park, grocery store shoppers jockeying for position on a saturday, a water gun/balloon match with a gaggle of children? What crazy things did you do as a kid? Or, as an adult? Upside down Margeritas at your favorite watering hole, or a game of pool? The rec room at your local nursing home... Have fun!

I like the cropping; however, there is too much blue for my taste. It draws my attention away from the photo itself and does not let me look at details. Would you be willing to make some color adjustments and post again?

Lynn, be careful with your old tintypes -- do not expose them to sun light or bright light unless you're doing a one-time scan on your scanner, which is the best way to reproduce the photographs. Sun light and bright light will turn them dark and ruin them. Place them in separate glassines if you have them and then in appropriately sized manilla envelopes. Store the envelopes in a dark place. As to their value, you may wish to show them to antique dealers or do some price comparisons on the net. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your words of wisdom. Great advice. I'll plan on doing just that. Thanks again!

I'm curious to know if anyone knows anything about the tin photos from way back when. I discovered a box of them after my Grandmother passed away. She was born in 1902, so some of them go back a ways.

Gizzy.whicker may know something about them. There is a User List at the top. You can search for him and send a private message.

Thank you! I'll see what I can find out...

Great shot! Boy, do they know a "softie" when they see one.

The cloud is awesome. Do you know what part of the country it was taken in? I'm just curious because the BLM (Bureau of Land Management), our government, continues to round up hundreds and hundreds of wild mustangs in the western states, which is being challenged by many animal rights groups through the court system. How odd to see a cloud in the shape of a horse at the height of the challenge. Interesting.

Gatelycrew -- your angels are beautiful. I love to walk through cemeteries to gain a feel for who was here before us. For some reason, I never thought of trying to capture that feeling. You have inspired me to go back to view things through the camera's eye rather than my heart. Thank you!

She's beautiful. Good catch! I have four that come to my feeder every year. I've been trying to get a shot of any one of them and have yet to do so; however, I can show pictures of their little red feeder.

Beautiful, cnd263. It's so calm and peaceful. This photo should be hung in everyone's corporate conference room. I know of a few that would benefit from a photo like this. lol -- Congratulations!

This is Eden, my service dog. She just recently lost her battle with Lyme disease. What an aweful disease. Yup, she's a rescued greyhound. Greyhounds make great service dogs. Patience is one of their virtues and, like all our pets, they aim to please.

OK, this may be a mistake but I have these strange sky objects in two scenes taken in May in Zion Canyon. I'll just show one of them. Nikon D90 with ED 18-200mm lens shot at 18mm, f10, 1/400, ISO 400. Note the two white dots with contrails(?). If you zoom in on the image they resolve to a pair of quite circular dots with reflections (a lens artifact?). Another pic taken 4 minutes later at a different place on the road had similar objects only somwhat different -- see photos.

No UFO nut jobs please, this is presumably a camera issue!

Hmmmm... I agree that it's simply reflections... and I really don't know enough to say why... but, if you put this in the right hands, you'll find some believers... it may even get you a spot on some fancy talk show. Actually, I like the shot!
