2 sided color wheel. Cleaning cabinets and couldn't bear to throw it away. Sorry the color's not accurate as photos taken under kitchen lighting.

The Photoshop bundle is only $10 a month. Reasonable.
I use Elements. Does what I need to do- what it don't I usually don't anyway.
Somewhere @ Black Friday both are sold very cheaply together. I buy every other year.
I would also recommend Affinity. I use it instead of being locked into Adobe. And it's good.

Harry, thanks for your reply. I think Affinity is a good option.

I saw in response to a previous reply you said you did not know if she uses Windows or not. If she does and has MS Office installed, why not use MS Publisher? I use that for the monthly newsletter I put out for my volunteer fire department.

If she does use a Mac, there is a really great program, iStudio that will do everything and more you would want I'm sure for a weekly bulletin. It has a free 30 day trial, and if you do purchase it the cost is $29.99 for a 1 computer license.

Vince, thank you for another great suggestion.

Oh, if your bulletin editor, pastor, or Sunday School superintendent would like to see some of the cartoon-type of illustrations I draw, they can visit that website given on the image below. This image is free for churchor other religious use and for personal use as long as my name and website remain on the poster.

Wonderful - thank you!

No One has mentioned IrfanView yet, but it is the photo and graphics editor that I us4e along with MS Paint. IrfanView is free, but if you like it, it is a courtesy to send the author a small gift, but it is not a requirement.

As far as doing the whole bulletin, there are several open source office products that can be used. "sourceforge,", a reliable repository for projects developing and maintaining free a software, has gathered a list with short reviews of the best open-source officeware available.

I have personally tried and used Apache Open Office, Libre Office, and Google Docs and recommend any of these. If you look around carefully, you might be able to get the web forms of MS Office for free, too.

Just look carefully at any supposed free officeware to make sure you are not buying an annual subscription that you did not want. --Richard

Prof. Bowman, thank you for all the great suggestions. I will pass them along to our graphics editor.

How much photo editing are you doing? Are you just cropping, adjusting overall color and boosting contrast? Most folks here are in the stratosphere when it comes to editing, doing thing you will not be doing.

Second, what layout program are you using, the thing you put the photos in?

Faststone.org has a free image editor-viewer that probably does most of what you need.

R John, I'm not the person doing the work, but I'll pass along your comments. Fastone sounds good. Thanks.

I used WordPerfect (word processing program) to prepare our church's bulletins, calendars, newsletters, etc., for about 25 years. A good word processing program allows you to import images and place them where you want in a document. Word processors also let you convert your file to PDF so that they can be read across platforms. We wound up e-mailing our newsletters to members and printed a limited number of copies for members who did not have e-mail and for shut-ins. I recommend WordPerfect because you buy the program (with other apps in the bundle) unlike MicroSoft which licenses the product (and I think requires a yearly renewal fee, like PhotoShop).

I'll pass this along. I remember WordPerfect from the earlier years! Thanks.

Have you tried OpenOffice? You can insert photos, as well as text. It is free... as is LibreOffice, and Doxillion. They have several formats to choose from.

Affinity Photo is a good app, but for free, you'll have to look at the GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program.) Neither are Photoshop, but both will work. Both also have a learning curve similar to Photoshop's. Photoshop Elements is the light, non-subscription (not free) version of Photoshop, used mainly by amateurs, but highly effective. You might also try Photopea, a free online editor.

Terry - Thanks very much.

I don't know if this is the right section for this question. the Post Processing Forum didn't seem to be.

At our church we need a print-ready graphics program like Photoshop, but at a reasonable cost, to create our bulletins. Free would be best! I am not the graphic designer so only sharing her request in the words she used. I'm sending her a link to Affinity which looks promising. Does anyone recommend it?

Thanks in advance for any advice. You folks always come through when folks need guidance.
