It's likely that you are using "flexible spot" focussing, which, once you lock in on a spot, the camera tends to "remember" that spot and it's hard to get rid of it. One way is to hit whatever button you have assigned to "focus standard". That will get rid of that pesky little grey box. You can also use the touchscreen, assuming it is activated, to move the spot to where you now want it. Good luck.
Thank you all, so very very much. I learned a lot and really enjoyed seeing how people worked on the image. I went back to the original and "got rid of the dog" and made a number of adjustments and am now quite pleased with an image that I can print up at 16X20. Once again, thanks to all for your contributions.
Thanks for the info. This wasn't my camera, I wasn't even with them when it was taken. I try to avoid higher ISOs but that means you miss out on some "spontaneous" shots.
Did you get rid of the dog using Lightroom or PP? I don't know how to remove unwanted objects using Lightroom. Is there a tutorial you could recommend if it is possible? BTW, thanks for your edits. Nice job.
This photo was taken by my daughter at sunset while on vaca in Nova Scotia. No tripod, sunset, so the ISO was 2500. Not a great picture, but one I would love to print up for a friend. The discoloration on the skin is severe. Is this color noise? I tried to play with NIK Define2 but don't know it well enough. I don't use PP, only Lightroom. A modified version of this photo was first posted, in the wrong place, sorry about that. I am attaching the original JPEG. Of course the dog, while a sweetie, is frequently in the wrong place at the wrong time. Cropping might help. Feel free to modify, alter, do whatever to improve this image; I would love to see what might happen.
Thanks. The image was cropped and slightly edited in Lightroom, which is recommended before working in NIK. My biggest confusion was how to present my question on this website. Your suggestions are appreciated. BTW the image is not a 1X1 but a 4X5 (8X10), cropped with the intent of printing. The dog's tail is a problem, the original had more of the dog but not enough worth including.
I've been following for awhile but now I really want some feedback. I have this image taken by someone on vaca with us that I would very much like to print. However, it is a JPEG and it was taken at an ISO of 2500. It has a lot of noise but, despite trying to learn about NIK Define2, I am at a loss at how to fix the problems with the image. The most obvious blemishes are discolorations in the skin tones on some of the people. Any suggestions that I might try without buying new software would be appreciated. I use Lightroom and obviously have the NIK suite.
Am happy to be here. Enjoying all the banter.
