I shot the sunrise with the tripod set up in the back of my pickup. I was able to shoot over the dikes that separate the ponds from the road. I had just finished changing lenses when a flock of Sandhill Cranes flew over. The birds in this photo are two shots of the same bird.

Catch light just right! Shot 1 is top notch, on the second one, I would have liked to see just a shadow of the right side of the photo (the horse's left) -- it may be artsy, but I would prefer a little bit of the other side of the face to be seen.

Thanks Bridges, I agree on the second shot. I originally tried to show a little more of the other side. With everything that was going on outside the arena, his ears were paying more attention out there than on me!!! I felt a full head shot without the ears did not look right. I was trying to make something out of a bad shot!!! Thanks for your comments, I appreciate them.

I really like these. They're beautiful and show the wonderful lines of a horses head. The second one should be huge and on a living room wall. It's just striking!

Thank you riverlass, they will probably wind up on the owner's wall!!!

Last Saturday our trainer asked me to shoot some photos of one of her customers horses. These are two of the photos after quite a bit of processing. These were shot in a covered riding arena, it was raining and windy. The open side of the arena was to my back, the catch light in his eyes is a reflection from the sky. Do you think this is too much catch light? The horses barn name is "Demo".

I was going back through some photos from last summer. Found this one that I missed from my original processing from the show. The Palomino color and Leopard print on her chaps really caught my eye. Tried to impart a little more impact and reduce some of the clutter in the background. He is a stallion, his nickname is "The Mailman". He's really haulin' the mail in this shot!!!

What a lovely series. I just had to look when I saw the heading 'From the Hummingbird garden.' I love hummers and you did an excellent job in these photos.
