Reflection is a problem,no doubt. If i know the model wears glasses,i will suggest they stop at the dollar store and find a pair similar to their regular glasses. Then i remove the lenses.Otherwise i shoot for a higher angle. That seems to help.

I am using a friends studio that is much wider then mine.Between the two of us we have chairs, stools, plenty of furniture to work with.I like the idea of a dress rehearsal .Unfortunately, not a lot of time.Usually,i move around and meter the light from different angles. I know this is a challenge .I believe that with patience and humor,it will work.I remember an interview with the great George Hurrell. He said'no matter what happens, act like it's part of the plan"
Happy Holidays.

The last part made me laugh.I actually used that when a shoot didn't turn out as well as i hoped.Fortunately ,i am more experienced. The good news is the print will be b&w.slightly sepia toned. So i suggested no patterns, and no white, unless we agree that they will all be wearing lighter clothes. This is a young group so i don't anticipate any problems with people sitting on the floor .

Great suggestions. The groups of three's makes sense.I have large soft boxes, and a big silver umbrella. No problem with the background. It will be a wide seamless. If the edges show,i can extend it in photoshop.Appreciate your time. Will let you know how it goes and post pictures.Happy Holidays!!!

Thanks. Those are very good suggestions. There has to be one photo with everyone in it.After that, small family groups.

I appreciate your candor. However, this is not about money. The grandmother is a lady i have known for twenty years. She was so excited at the prospect of all her grandchildren being in one place at the same time i couldn't/didn't want to say no.

Were you using a program mode? Also you didn't mention weather conditions.Wind? Shooting in manual might help.Nice shot. The depth of field is shallow >that can be a problem.shooting at f 11or 16 would give you a sharper image.

I had a similar situation with my grandmothers picture. It was in pieces.I found a studio that specialized in repairing damaged photos. They did a beautiful job.I don't know where you live but go online and google repairing photos.good luck.
