will be in Kathmandu in Feb. Not really going into the city and looking for a recommendation for a hotel near airport. We are flying to Biratnagar and also to Nepalgunj; thus the need for hotel near airport. I thought we'd stay out of the city due to its condition.

BTW, we were in southern Tibet when the quake struck. Never felt it but some numerous rock slides the day before it. Towns about 30miles from us were effected. All the passes were blocked so we couldnt travel on.

Any suggestions for hotel near KTM would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed at the Radisson in town, which is not far from all the attractions. The Nepali people are making every effort to rebuild the place and there has been lots of international aid as well. Kathmandu is fine to stay in and getting to the airport is not a big deal. Town is still very well worth a visit.

Thanks, G -*

What do they do for a living?

They may do other things but they are asking for money to be photographed, not a set price though. Whatever it takes to make people happy.

Don't know if you wanted feedback on the images. If so, on the first two spot or center metering would have exposed better for the buildings. The sky would likely blow out but there is no information there anyway. Should try to turn off the date on the image: it distracts.

Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated and very helpful

Great collection of Nepal. MY son went to Base Camp and left 24 hours before the earthquake. It is a bit distracting to have the date code on. All digital cameras record the date and time on their exif files. If you would have clicked on "store original" when you posted, I could show you. David

Thank you, did not understand the relevance of this but it seems to be something important that people point out to me. Thank you, will do next time.

It would be nice if you would please check the store original box so we could get a more detailed look when doing this. Thanks

Sorry, I am new to this.

Kathmandu used to be a small place 30 years ago but not so now, there is hustle and bustle like in a big place - and it is a busy place now.

The Monkey Temple is located high up above Kathmandu - lots of stairs to walk up. It is popular with animals and traders alike.

The earthquake in April has devastated the Kathmandu region of Nepal massively. These earthquakes have formed the Himalayas but this one was the biggest and strongest earthquake in 600 years. It killed many people, some of whom I learned about from our fantastic sherpas and porters during our trek - many very sad stories...

The Nepali people in Kathmandu are busily rebuilding what they can. A lot of buildings are under threat of collapse and they are supporting the structure until better remedies can be done. Kathmandu had the largest number of world heritage buildings in the world before the disaster!
