Ok you got me.... I can't find the balance... I see the model... I like her... I like the lighting you have given her... but I don't know if I should turn the monitor on it's side or not.... Help me find the balance in this image... It's like one of those photos/sketches that you stare at and then suddenly it pops into perspective... LOL ... I will probably come back in an hour and see it .... but I am struggling now.. BTW.... this is the stuff that makes your work unique ... I like that and always enjoy your submissions!

Hey Tom.... I appreciate your opinion. This is an open forum. You don't have to be a Member of UHH to view this section. So don't take my "screen grab" comment personally. It was not directed to you. I trust that you are not the guy that would re-crop it and post it on Reddit or some other site. But, I can't say the same for everyone who visits this site. And I can't assume that those who steal images give a rats-assz if I have a 'no screen grab' comment or not'. But some may, and might decide to skip over my image and take yours instead. So that is a risk I'll take.

Again.... thanks for your feedback. I am sure it was worth both of our time.

I also look forward to seeing one of your images here in the Nude/Boudoir/NSFW Section.

Very nice work!! A great model too!!!

That's funny..... Yeah, usually.... The only living things in my backyard are rabbits and fire ants
But I'm not into wildlife photography, macro photography or getting stung!

Thanks for the comment!

Great photo, you are lucky to find a place with no people in the area

Thanks.

During the summer, the trees offer more privacy. And both neighbors, left and right, put up privacy fences, so that helps.

Thanks! She does not shoot nudes and I never encourage it with new models.

To answer your 2 questions.
1, I have NEVER found anything that I thought was good in bad light. Some better than others, but none good, so I don't worry to much about low light. All cameras are noisy above ISO 1000. Yes, like everyone, I shoot low light but just try for the best exposure possible. Noise is noise, on every camera!

2, what sticks out quickly, since I shoot sports with it, at 50mp, the buffer fills agonizingly quickly. I never use high frame speeds, even with the fast cameras, so it's not a huge problem. Just not my style! It's not a sports camera but it does have the same amazing focus system that all the new Canons have, so it WILL shoot sports, just not very fast. Every shot you can land at 50mp is pretty amazing. Try birds at 50mp!!!
For people it's awesome!!

Yes, I used to re-compose with my 5Dll, since there was no other way. If you weren't at f8, it was a loosing proposition. God I hated that, and just prayed the shots were sharp. Again, because in low light only the center point would lock! Cameras have come a long ways since the mighty 5Dll!! LoL
Glad to help!

Thanks SS.... I may revisit the 5ds again. I am 80% people shooting... So I should consider it.

Thanks!

To follow SS's comment, I believe for every change in the AF layout, the Digital Picture review for that camera includes a diagram of the layout change. If memory serves, the 80D, 1DXII, 7DII, and 5DIV bodies all include an 'expanded' layout as compared to digital bodies that came before.

Thank you!!
I looked at the 7DMkii and the screen coverage was impressive...

John, I am not aware of what you seek, BUT you could go to "The Digital Picture", look at the only 2 or 3 models that you might be remotely interest in and do screen saves and print them out and compare away.
I DO shoot all my Models with a 5s and as you say, I move to a point that is dead on the eye exactly where I need it and it's always dead sharp, ALWAYS!! I'm sure you've looked at some of my model shots.
If a point is not where I need it, as you say, I shoot loose then crop. I'm sure I'm left with MORE MP than a Nikon 810!
What the newer better cameras will do, you can set any single point you want anywhere there are points and when you shoot either Portrait or landscape, the corresponding point will automatically be used as you rotate the camera back and forth, OR you can set completely unrelated points in either position and the camera goes to those instead. That feature alone is worth the price of those cameras. My guess is that feature goes as far back as the 5lll but not sure.
The 1Dx(and ll) will spot meter on any point you are using, not just the center point(area). That's great for outdoor and especially street! Recomposing is an ancient technique from the past!!!
If I can help with anything else, just let me know?

SS,
I had forgotten that you went to the 5D s..... So rather than use the crop feature provided with the camera you just use a corresponding Focus point and throw away the rest in crop which essentially gives you the same thing..... I understand that. And what you have that most of us don't is 2 x + the MP.

This is really unrelated to my original question but what is it about the 5Ds that you don't like? Are there drawbacks? ..... Shooting in low-light for instance?

Regarding the focus point 'memory' in portrait or landscape modes.. The 6D has that, but I don't use it much. I would if they were cross type though.

Thanks for the input!

John.... Oh.... You were dead on w this statement:
Recomposing is an ancient technique from the past!!! & I'll add Recomposing = soft focus

I would love to see a series of "Diagrams" that compare the AF Systems of Canon's DSLR lineup in some sort of consistent scale. I've seen the pictures... one picture here and one there and here there is another... But I have not seen anything that actually compares the "Foot Print" / "layout" including single point and cross type points of several cameras, side by side.

Back story - I own the Canon 6D. Love the Camera. HATE the AF system. There is only one Cross Type Focus Point (center) and in tough lighting conditions, it is the one I must rely one. When shooting a person in a full body standing position and locking the center focus point on the eye, I may loose over 60% of the image after cropping. This could be avoided if there were more Cross-Type Focus Points and if those points were reasonably close to the outer edges.

So, I am contemplating a change in cameras. I am invested in Canon Lenses, so I am staying with Canon and I am not going Mirrorless. I will consider a crop-body though. I generally carry two cameras with me, so I might keep the 6D as a low light backup if I select a crop body. My work is predominately people. I shoot very little sports and I am not a birder or a landscape/fields and hills shooter either. I shoot people.

So back to my request ... and to be clear, I am not asking for Camera recommendations, I am looking for help finding a simple online Chart that shows Canon's AF systems in a side by side comparison. And no... I have not called Canon .... gee.. I should do that and will tomorrow morning.

Additional thought ... Those of you who use the 5DS / 5DS R ...... do you ever shoot in the "crop" mode which effectively scoots your auto focus points out closer to the edge? I have considered this, because with the massive file size, crop loss should not be a major impact.

Thanks for the input and discussion ......

(I may be late afternoon Monday before I can respond again)

Personally, I like that not all the photos in this section are nudes or semi-nudes. But they are all erotic in a way that the "People Portrait" section is not, what with pictures of peoples' grand kids and elderly folks with their pets. Not that there is anything wrong with the latter, but I doubt that the members who post there would appreciate what we do here.

Im not saying anything Latebloomer, but if there had been any, they would have shown up in the later sets Haha

Actually... In my area of NC there arn't many although I did walk the area for fire ants... They've been a bit more abundant this year.

Thanks for the comment.
