Not a lodging suggestion but try to get a Wild Goose Island sunrise. It is nearer the eastern entrance though!

The Great Bear Inn is near the western entrance. Contact them relative to pets, but they have 2 large dogs they own. The inn is excellent. Only issue is that you can hear trains go by at night - ear plugs helped.

You are making a LOT of assumptions for a LOT of people!!! It depends on what "travel" means. And that means a LOT of different things to a LOT of people!
I "travel" to get birds! Your 105mm MIGHT get me a duck or an ostrich in a zoo!! Your "opinion" probably won't serve most of the people who "travel" for photography!!

Guess I should have put more info in my request. This trip we are taking an OAT small ship cruise (89 passengers) from Bergen, Norway to Copenhagen. The ship makes stops along the way. I'm still undecided but would consider both the 24-105 and 50-400. Waking around towns and landscapes could favor the 24-105.

I have a Sony A7rii and plan an overseas trip this summer. Do any such Sony users have a good travel lens suggestion? I would like wide to long capability.

What is the impact of using the 18-135mm on a full frame Sony a7r?

The processing is nicely in keeping with the scene, which is lovely. Must be nice for those folk living there. AI has done its thing quite well with the removals and additions and continues to improve daily. I was reading the list of Ps tools that use it recently, there’s no avoiding AI, that’s for sure. I think you’ve used it well. I’d do a horizontal flip on the dog, he’d probably be watching what’s going on.

I thought that at first as well. Then I thought, maybe he spotted something in the woods! 😅

Went through the NC mountains recently and drove past 2 rustic cabins. Two people were doing some repairs. There was an old wagon in the center of the open space along with two motorized carts. The scene reminded me of old western scenes so I decided to create the look I perceived. I removed the carts and people working and used AI to generate the three people, horse, and dog. Then made it sepia tones with a slight sketch texture. I also included the raw file for comparison. First time doing this with the latest PS tools.

I have a Sony A7rii and took a few lenses…..16-35mm, 55mm prime, and 100-400mm. Had a 1.4 extender but did not use it. Also had several ND filters. Of course, a tripod for early and late shooting.

This one is not to proper scale but many AI images are very good. So, why would a company use a photographer if they can get an image they like from their computer. If they need to have the photo reflect an actual place, then they may need a photographers image. I have used PS AI to add elements to the sky or foreground while keeping the primary landscape as shot. But it will definitely impact landscape photographers trying to make a living.

Have eco printed 8550
Took 5 machines in 6 months to get one to work right. Forget about borderless prints, as ink just gets all over with over spray.
Prints are excellent

I have the Canon Pro100 printer and print borderless all the time with no problems. In the setup though, I add the smallest possible left, right, top, and bottom margins - like .03”.

Well, yes but he also did not have the current tools available. I bet he would love the current editing capability without all the time and chemicals involved. 😁

Good question, but not in my opinion. Adding clouds that were not there at that particular point of time does not change the location’s scene. Some add a tree or flowers. I have seen plenty of “fine art” images that use significant editing that mention nothing of editing changes even if composited. This will be a long discussion with the increased use of AI where zero photography is sometimes used. Everyone shooting in raw will edit any many using various filters to give the image the feeling they were going for - but it definitely “didn’t look like that with your eyes”. Maybe we don’t call it photography but digital photography or similar.

These images were 100% AI generated using the generative fill feature of the PS AI Beta issue. I made a new blank layer filled with white, selected all, and filled in text to guide the creations. I used 1 sentence to describe the scene and did zero editing on them. They are not perfect but wait until the software is fully developed. What this does to real photography is unknown but there needs to be an impact and control for exhibitions. Just saw on Facebook where a guy using Midjouney made over $100,000 on a set of his images.
