I appreciate the feedback. Not sure which program(s) I would use for "selective" brightening. Most of the software I'm familiar with do those things on a global scale. What program(s) would you suggest. I'm not a pro, so cheap or free is a good thing.

i'm not a pro either - far from it! - but i use photoshop, which, alas, is not free, nor even cheap... but if you want the best results, sometimes you have to spend a little cash. i took the liberty of tweaking this shot in photoshop, using the shadows/highlight adjust feature to bring out some of the details in the shadows...

I like the photo shop touch up. I was afraid that it might lose the deep blue near that lower left edge, but apparently not. I know professional graphics artists that use Photoshop, but it's out of my price range. I enjoy photography immensely, but it's still in the hobby phase.
Thanks Rocky.

smaller images always look a bit darker than the full-size version. it's the same optical illusion that makes a paint chip look darker in the store than the same color applied to your entire wall.

this image would benefit from a bit of selective brightening, or perhaps some shadows/highlights adjustment to brighten up the left side... there are some beautiful blues and golds reflected in the stream...

Thanks for the suggestion. Lightening the foreground my indeed add some detail. Will give it a try.
I'm actually using this as Wallpaper right now, and notice that there is much more detail in the larger size. Not sure why it didn't reproduce here?

Just joined the group and thought I'd see if I could upload a photo.
Wouldn't mind feedback and/or suggestions.
