We did have beautiful weather on our trip. The cannon shot was mine, thank you for looking at it. We are also a home schooling family so for us this was a field trip :-). Thanks again for sharing your photos.

Hope you had better weather than we did - was it your shot of the cannon facing the rising sun? It was beautiful!

Great set. My family and I were just there in September. It was our first time and I would definitely go back again.

What Chamberlin and the 20th Maine did at Little Round top is an amazing story for sure. Thanks for the comment.

Very nice photos. Interestingly there are two posts over the last couple of days that are historically connected. This one and the Bowden College windows. The connection being Joshua Chamberlain. He was a teacher of Rhetoric at Bowden, joined the Union Army and fought at Gettysburg. His tactics at Little Round Top prevented the southern army from flanking the Union lines. Went back to Bowden as President and then became Governor or Maine. Just a little factoid.

My daughter and I also did a horseback ride down confederate avenue and across the field at Pickets charge. A wonderful experience indeed!
Thanks,
Shane

The spousal unit and I did a four hour horseback ride around the battlefield a couple of years ago for her birthday (middle of August read: Hot), I would recommend it if you get the chance ...

Thank you all for the kind words :-). We will definitely make it a point to return someday. I did not have an opportunity to shoot the sunset from the top of Little Round Top but will make that a priority on the next trip. I certainly think this is a place every american should see. I don't believe it is possible to be there and not recognize the magnitude of it.

Thanks again,
Shane

We had our first opportunity to travel to Gettysburg recently. It is a very sobering place....We had beautiful weather while there and learned a lot about our country's history.

I took a few hundred exposures in the 10-15 minutes he was working on the tree. I was glad to get a few of the wood chips. Thank you for the comment.
