This is an Air Show in Cameron, a small rural town in Missouri. The pilots, bike and truck drivers and the photographers are all nuts !! Hold on to your desk, chair, whatever! Best viewed full screen with a HD monitor. This one is waaaay more than just an airshow!!!

jerryc41, my friend, I have been helping people with computer related problems for many years.

We might be able to fix your 4 TB WD My Book external hard drive in a very simple way. Please follow these steps, which in most cases will get hard drives working back to normal:

1- Have the 4 TB drive connected to a USB port and turn the computer on.

2-Aftter the computer boots, click start/computer or the windows explorer icon.

3- Your 4 TB My Book drive will show in the explorer window possibly as drive D or some other letter F, G or whatever.

4-Right click the 4 TB drive letter and select the last choice in the window that opens: "properties".

5-Another window opens, titled "disk ... properties. Select the tab "Tools". Now select "Error Checking" and click "Check Now".

6-Another small window opens with two choice boxes:

"Automatically fix file system errors"

"Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors"

7- The first box is normally already checked. UNCHECK IT.

Now check the second box "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".

Click the "start" tab on the bottom of the window.

8-Let the system run, it may take a while, be patient. When it finishes running you are done. The 4 TB drive should now be repaired.

9-Re-start your computer and VOILA you should be back in business.

Just a word of advice: it is possible that when you restart the computer, a message saying that "the computer has not been properly shut down" will show up. In that case just select the "start the computer normally" choice that also show up.

If you have any questions just let me know.

If you want to check my blog "COMPUTER AND ELECTRONICS WORLD", just google it and click the link.

Good luck.

I have two PC computers, one with windows 7 and one with windows 8.1, plua a laptop with windows 8.i.

My PC's are top of the line, which I built.(I have been helping friends, family and other people with computer advice as well as repair or solving problems). I have built about 35 PC's for them all.

No problem here.

Thank you all, dannac, FrumCA, Dngallagher, bsprague and mwsilvers for all your suggestions.

I definitely think the best rout for me,(as suggested by most of you),is to go with the Adobe creative cloud offer for Lightroom and Photoshop CC. For $10.00/month you can't go wrong.

In fact I spent the last hour or so downloading it and can even experiment with the package for 30 days free.

mwsilvers, to answer your question:

I have two PC computers, one with windows 7 and one with windows 8.1, plua a laptop with windows 8.i.

I believe that Adobe has on line tutorials for both Lightroom and Photoshop.

Do you think that if I decide later that Lightroom is just enough for me, can I drop the monthly setup and buy it instead ?

Thanks again to all of you for the sound advice.

I have had Photoshop Elements 6 for several years, however very seldom used. For my needs until recently, Picassa was just fine.

Now that I have a much better new camera (Nikon D5500), my interest in photography has gone up many times over. I am going to spend a lot more time with this hobby, my question is:

Is Photoshop Elements 6 still a good Photo processor for my needs or should I buy the latest version (13 ?) or Lightroom?

Which one is the easiest to relearn and work with. ( I really never learned Elements 6 to the point I felt confortable in handling it).

Thanks for your suggestions.

Why not to allow a mobile system to collect v**es from demos only, no republicans or others allowed.
This way Hillary will win for sure...

Hi Bearcat,

I totally agree with you.

A few days ago I advised Photolady 2014 to do the same. Here is the post:

Dear Photolady 2014,

My advice is: build your own computer. Believe me it is not that hard and I will be delighted to help you with the task.

Before I go into any more details, let me tell you I have been building computers for myself, friends and friends of friends for several years. I also have a blog that I invite you to visit .

Just google:

(COMPUTER AND ELECTRONIC WORLD; SHARING KNOWLEDGE AND SOLUTIONS FOR COMPUTER PROBLEMS)

and you'll get there.

You can build a super computer buying all the components from Newegg, (visit their website newegg.com), for less than $1,000.00.

Since windows 8.1 is a so so operating system, you can still build your computer with windows 7 which as everybody knows is a fine version of windows. Later, when windows 10 is available and tested..., you'll be able to upgrade at a very low cost.

This example of a computer that I would suggest for your needs, will be very fast and reliable, with the ad vantage of having an SSD 256 GB hard drive for your programs and a 2TB hard drive for storage of all your files.

I like AMD processors which will operate as well and as fast as Intel for a lot less cost.

Assuming that you already have a nice monitor, keyboard and mouse, here is a brief description of the components that would create a COMPUTER OF YOUR DREAMS:

Processor: AMD FX-8350 VISHERA 8 core 4.0 GHZ $179.00

Mother Board: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 SATA 6GB $120.00

Ram memory: 16 GB G Skill Ripjaw X series 110.00

Computer case: Rosewill Black Hawk with 6 cooling
fans pre-installed 90.00

Hard drives: 256GB SSD Crucial MX 100 CT 110.00
WD 2 TB Green 20EZRX 80.00

Graphics card: EVGA 02G-P4-2743-KR GFORCE
GT 740 90.00

Two (2) ASUS 24X DVD Burner Black SATA Model DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS 40.00

Windows 7 home premium SP1 64 bit OEM 100.00

TOTAL $919.00

And there you are.

I don't know what version of Adobe Lightroom you have, but I know versions 4, 5, and 6 are compatible and either other versions are, as long as you download the right drivers.

I encourage you to read a post in my blog called "Have you thought about building your own new computer?" posted December 14 2010, you'll enjoy it

(George Freire)

Hi again Photolady 2014!

George Freire here.

Looking at my memo to you about building your own computer, I saw that I missed one item, namely one of the most important components: Power Supply, PS for short.

This item is a Rosewill ARC-M650, 650 W, with modular cables, which is a great feature, (you only use the cables that you need, saving a lot of space inside the case).

Cost for this PS at Newegg is $60.00.

Regards,

George Freire

Hi Photolady 2014,

I'm glad you are at least considering my recommendations...

Please let me know if you were able to check my blog and if so, did you check areas that have to do with keeping your computer in top shape. There are many links in my blog to free software that will greatly help you.

Regards,

George Freire
