Get the Nexto device. I have been rravelling intsrnationally with it for years instead of a computer. It is blazing fast and accurate, small, and will backup simultaneously to a pn external hard drive (double backup) when plugged in. When not plugged it, it will back up tens of thousands of photos on one charge. You need this device!

Could we shoot your excellent bifs Probably not[/quote]

The ProCapture feature of the Olympus system is actually very helpful in photographing birds leaving their perches, as it can capture up to 35 frames taken BEFORE the shutter is fully depressed.

I just got the M-1 Mark III and the 100-400 mm lens. So far really enjoying it. Read Joe McDonald’s guides to using the Olympus features at hoothollow.com.

Thanks for that explanation. I will use Lightroom Classic.

You might get started at the Adobe site, that includes links to tutorials and getting-started videos:

Adobe doesn't make things easy for the novice, constantly renaming with no clear names their two software. The LR Classic is the desktop software, full-functional and intended as your primary edit tool. What they're now calling just "Lightroom" has changed names repeatedly. This is software intended for your mobile device, like a tablet. You can subscribe to just this software version if you don't use a primary desktop.

What is the difference between Lightroom and Lightroom Classic? Which should I start on. I have both on my computer. Thanks!

I ordered the Scott Kelby book used, in good condition, for less than $6.00 including shipping from Amazon. Can’t beat that! It will be at my house early next week. Thanks

But then I can’t highlight and keep for review later.

I am very new to post-processing and just downloaded Lightroom and Photoshop. I would like advice on buying a book/books on getting started. I understand that there are online tutorials, but my prefered method of learning is reading. I would like to learn all the theory from a book while sitting in front of the computer open to the appropriate program. I also like books because I can increase my speed of reading when I easily understand a concept and slow my pace when comprehension comes slower. I also like to bookmark and highlight for future reference. Once I feel in control of the basics, then the online tutorials will be more helpful. Thanks!

Thank you everybody for the replies, although I’m not sure if the responses have cleared the water or muddied it further! I am going to look on Lens Rental today and call my local camera shop to see about renting the camera and the 100-400 mm lens for a few days.

Two years ago I upgraded from a cropped frame Nikon DSLR with a first generation Tamron 150-600 to the Sony A9 with their 200-600 mm lens. Since doing so, I have been struggling with the greater field of view; small animals and birds just look so small! I find myself often using the camera in cropped-frame mode, but that results in a 10 MP image.

I just teturned from Kenya with a professional wildlife photographer who uses the Olympus micro 4/3rds system exclusively. I was impressed by the reach of his gear as well as the small size and weight. I am getting older and it is often hard to carry the Sony gear around, plus all his gear fit nicely into a carry-on camera bag. I am considering making the switch, but have my concerns/doubts, especially as quite a bit of money is involved.

I would like opinions as to the wisdom of making this switch. If I decide to switch, I would also like recommendations about the best place to sell my Sony equipment. I have the A9, the 200-600 lens, a 1.4 TC, the replacement Swiss-Arca compatible tripod foot, and three extra batteries. All have been minimally used.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you sure the pink is not paint? Many elephants there are “domesticated” and are painted for weddings and other festivals.

Helicopter. It is horrible. The horses are frantic and often get hurt.

Nexto device to backup and store photos, rather than a laptop. This works really well if you don’t need to look at your photos on the trip. I’m always much to tired at night to review photos. The Nexto device is small and lightweight.
