I like them all, James, especially the owl. The treatment of the eagle is superb. I love it!

These are so incredibly sharp. I have a looooong way to go. I love 'em.

Great shots. I like the Gold Finch best, I think. All of them with wings extended are so good it's hard to pick a favorite.

I noticed the sun, too, but didn't think to shoot it. Funny how wild fires in Canada can have that much impact this far south.

Well, I tried. I was shooting through a layer of smoke. In fact, within an hour the smoke was so thick that the moon had all but disappeared. But, hey, I have a problem with focus in good conditions. :>)

Taken just just before 9:00 CDT last evening in western Kentucky. Smoke from Canada caused the color. Taken with a D7100 with a 500mm non CPU lens. Focus may be off a little, I really can't tell.

Like me, I expect most people were consumed with identifying the spider. The photo is nicely detailed, although the compliment has lost it's punch. I apologize, but in fact, from the detail I think its a grass spider. I think that the wolf, like the brown recluse, don't spin webs to capture their prey. They hunt 'em down. But then, I was wrong once before. I am fairly new here, what is MFD? I figured it out, minimum focus distance.

Brown Recluse in upstate New York? I thought we in the south eastern quarter were the only ones afflicted with those things. That isn't a brown recluse. They don't spin webs, they hunt at night. About the only way I know to see one in daylight is to uncover him. His body is slick, his legs are very long and he is way fast. Color will vary from light tan to dark brown, but the violin on the head is always present, hence the other name, Fiddler Spider.

Thanks Mike. I have jpg written to slot 2 and RAW to slot 1. I undoubtedly deleted the RAW file. That is a practice that I have stopped.

Thank you, ebrunner. I usually use ISO 400 or 800, 200 in bright light. I don't know how it got so high for that shot, except a short between the headsets. That is, operator error.

Thanks Mike. I'm trying to tone the flowers down a bit in Paint Shop Pro but that brings up the high ISO noise. I had this camera two and a half weeks when I took that shot and just let the ISO get away from me. Now I have to break out the book and learn how to do flash with fast sync. I really do appreciate the folks here at UHH.

Very nice, Scott. I checked out birds and butterflies. I thought I had some good shots, before I saw yours.

Thanks a lot, Scott. The Irises are gone but there are still plenty of wild flowers available. I'll give that technique a shot. I like taking macro shots and will do some experimenting this weekend.
