I had my most recent purchase a Canon 7d with a 400mm lens when I saw a heron. I took several images, then noticed something that has never happened before: the water was calm and showed a reflection. Great, I thought, I will get a shot of the heron and its reflection. There is a bank going down to the pond, and when I backed up the bank blocked the view of the heron. The bird was too close, and I didn't have a shorter focal length lens.
