My wife was wrapping Christmas presents yesterday and when she used up a roll she asked me to throw away the tube. My brain yelled, "Wait, What if I took a shot down through the tube.?" So I stuck the tube up against the window pane showing just the sky and then took a shot down through it with my IPhone. I'm thinking, hey, that looks interesting so it was off to Photoshop. It was a quick and simple composite. I just used an AI generated image of a girl with a red umbrella. I also added a drop shadow to the figure.

I've seen a lot of discussion here and on social media about DSLR's and Mirroless cameras versus the Smartphones. I don't want to open up that discussion again but I was curious as to why the big boy cameras were considered better. Curiosity got the best of me so I decided to Unzip one of them. What a surprize to see the inner workings. Now I know why their images are so much better. LOL.

So clever and VERY creative!

I really like the 2nd shot better, too. The crispness of the butterfly and flowers against the bokeh is really nice, I think.

Frank I agree the image can stand on its own. I just wanted to try something painterly, as I felt the image was well suited for that. I like them both

I used a vintage photo from my wife's genology files for this piece. My wife's grandfather was a policeman. This 1902 image shows him sitting on a horse drawn police wagon.

Okay dupullum, before you mention it, I stayed between 1 & 2 of the sleep stages. LOL. For this image I used Topaz Abstraction to flatten the edges a bit, then used Deep Dream Generator for the effect. DDG didn't do a good job of coloring the horses, so I ran the image through Photoshop's Neural Filters>Colorize which colored them brown. I used a layer mask to only show the horses.

I thought she had beautiful eyes. She was resting on the stones that surround one of my flower beds. Yes, I edited the background a little.

Beautiful portrait!

I like that you post both color and B&W. Thank you doing that. It helps me learn to “see” in a different way. Sometimes I prefer the color, sometimes the B&W…sometimes I can’t decide between the two! I prefer the B&W of this one.

Actually, Mother Nature does fine on her own. However, a little visit to Topaz Studio did nice things with this shot.

I believe this included at least two presets - Buz Sim and something else.

Lovely! I've always liked Buz Sim in Topaz.

Just a quick reply.... For those not familiar with the Alexander White guides, they are excellent and are valuable resources.

Thank you, I agree with you. I have White's guides for my current two cameras.

I have a brand new Photographer's Guide to the Sony RX100 III by Alexander White. I am asking $17.00 which includes shipping via USPS Media Mail. Pay Pal, please.

ISBN 9781937986513

Please PM me.

Thank you, Nancy

Over 200 pages. This book is the larger-sized paperback version of Photographer's Guide to the Sony DSC-RX100 III. This version of the book contains the same content as the earlier version, which was published in September 2014 with dimensions of 5.5 by 8.5 inches (140 by 216 mm). The new version of the book, which replaces the original version, is being published at a size of 8.5 by 11 inches (216 by 280 mm) in order to present more information on each page, which keeps related images closer to the text they illustrate and reduces the page count, making the book easier to manage. This book is a complete guide to using the Sony DSC-RX100 III camera, one of the most advanced, but still pocketable, cameras available. With this book, author Alexander White provides users of the RX100 III with a manual covering all aspects of the camera. Using a tutorial-like approach, the book shows beginning and intermediate photographers how to accomplish things with the RX100 III, and explains when and why to use the camera's features. The book provides details about the camera's shooting modes as well as its menu options for shooting, playback, setup, and special effects. The book covers all of the new features of the RX100 III, including its unique pop-up electronic viewfinder, tilting LCD screen, built-in neutral density filter, and enhanced capabilities for camera control and image transfer over a wireless network. The book includes more than 400 color photographs that illustrate the camera's controls, display screens, and menus. The images also provide examples of photographs taken using the RX100 III's Scene mode, with settings optimized for subjects such as landscapes, sunsets, portraits, and action shots; the Creative Style and Picture Effect menu options, with settings for altering the appearance of images; and features for continuous shooting and shooting in dim light. The book also provides introductions to more advanced topics such as infrared photography, astrophotography, and digiscoping. The book includes a full discussion of the video features of the RX100 III, which can shoot HD video with stereo sound, and which offers manual control of exposure and focus during movie recording as well as an upgraded video format, XAVC S. In three appendices, the book discusses accessories for the RX100 III, including cases, external flash units, and filter adapters, and includes a list of websites and other resources for further information. The book includes an appendix with "quick tips" on how to take advantage of the camera's features in the most efficient ways possible. This guide to the RX100 III includes a detailed index, so the reader can quickly find needed information about any particular feature or aspect of the camera.
