Really like the image of the ball about to enter the firstbaseman's glove. Excellent. The last one brings back memories of when I played baseball. We we taught to put our fingers BEHIND the bat when bunting. Could help save your fingernails!! I have found a shift in my determination of what constitutes a "good" game since I started photographing such events. I tend to think it is a good game based upon the quality of photo ops and not as much as the quality of play! Similar to looking at photos printed in magazines, newspapers and other such antiquated media. LOL.

All that rambling out of the way, very good job and excellent quality. I guess it speaks to how good the images are when they provoke such thoughts!

Keep up the good work.

As a friend of mine once told me - some days the dragon wins! But you were able to get out and from what I can tell the weather was fairly decent. Yeah, I know. REALLY stretching for that one! ;o)

Have you considered renting one to see if it fits your style and approach to photography. I've used Lensrentals, but I am sure there are others and perhaps a camera store with rentals local to you.

A few images from the arena football game April 28th. I was once again reminded of how much I enjoy photographing this game!! The home team beat their PREVIOUSLY unbeaten opponent! 😉

Shot with the Z9 paired with the Tamron 35-150 f2.2-2.8. 1/1250th, f2.8-3.2, ISO 4000.

Excellent! MY favorites are the ones you got of the pitcher. The "in delivery" captures, the facial expression. Two thumbs up!!!

Excellent images! The Legacy catcher does not look like someone you would want to cross or challenge!! In my opinion, sometimes it is nice to get a high scoring game - more photo ops, even if it is tough on the coaches and players!!

I played short and third. Now I’m lucky to walk between third and short lol

Gee - if I take your comment apart, I come up with "Now I'm lucky to make the short walk to third." Sure nails ME these days!!! LOL!!

I really like the way you caught the pivot for the double play. Guess having been an infielder "back in the day" makes me a bit partial!!

I am thinking of replacing my Tamron 150-600 Di VC lens. I have a Nikon D7000 and a new Z7ii. I have been very happy with the Tamron it works well on the D7000, BUT it does not auto focus on the Z7ii. ...?

Have you considered RENTING the lenses you are considering to see how they fit your style of photography? The money you spend might prove to be well worth it especially if it keeps you from spending money on something you end up not liking. Personally, I use Lensrentals, but I am sure others could chip in with recommendations as well.

I might add, use Paypal for payment. Of the very few occasions I had a problem the seller wouldn't address, I filed a claim and they took care of it. In fact, Paypal's policy of that is one of the reasons I NO LONGER sell on ebay. It is too easy for someone to make a false claim and then I am not only out the money, but the item, too! But to echo everyone prior to me, yes, the rating information is key. Take a look at the details to see what they say and how long ago they were made. Sometimes a listed negative isn't something I would worry about. Others, it is a deal breaker.

B’ham Bulls fan here. Great photos! You must be sitting by the glass. When I’m at the games with my camera I’m usually 20-25 rows up from the ice. Leave’s alot more margins in error shooting that far from the action. But I get lucky sometimes.

Thank you for the compliment. I have worked out an arrangement with the club to get media credentials which allows me to move about the glass in areas where there are no fans. Getting tougher and tougher as they are selling the areas I used to be able to get as premium rink side tables. But sometimes they are not being used so I can go places other than behind the net.

When I shoot on a regular field I love the smell of the dirt and grass. When I shoot on a artificial field it's just a job. Where have the good times gone where players get dirty and the game was so different than today.

For sure. I remember playing softball and if I didn't get dirty, it was only because I didn't play. Not a good thing! The dirt, grass stains and occasional blood were like badges of honor! LOL.

Must say, my favorite is the ball on bat. The compression is amazing and nicely captured. The second capture is "interesting" due to the hand. LOL. Things like these (in my opinion) are what contribute to the enjoyment of photography.

Nice job on the photos. Having grown up playing on dirt infields, I still work on getting used to the artificial stuff!
