Interested in 14-24 lens. Could you provide a bit more detail? 2.4 ? Any accessories such as hood or filter? Any scratches?

The Murdaugh trial in SC is all over the news, but I've haven't gotten into it. Yesterday, I watched about three minutes of it. Two things struck me: the way the prosecutor pronounced his name, it sounded like "Mr. Murder." Hearing that time after time could have an effect on the jury. The other thing I noticed, in still pictures, is how much he, his brother, and his son look so much alike. I'd never want to be on a murder trial.

In this area, “Murdaugh” is pronounced “Mur-dork” or “Mur- duck,” rather than “”Mur-daw.” It does sound more like “murder,” but it’s easy not to appreciate the “k.”

In May I ordered new Nikon 70-200 lens and appropriate filter from B&H, delivered by FedEx. The filter was not included though it was listed as being sent.B&H credited my card for that, but I suspect they just gave me the benefit of the doubt since I am a loyal customer and the filter was about $90, a relative pittance to my usual purchases. Re FedEx, I requested to sign for delivery for another lens that was about $1800 in March; found it sitting on my porch, with no attempt at signature by FedEx, though I was at home all day. Fortunately I live in a gated community. FedEx quality not what it used to be in my experience but I suspect it’s related to demand for services volume, and location. When I order I go into vigilante mode for the delivery. I suspect somebody else got your order by mistake, and attributed it to their good fortune. I think B&H should put FedEx on some sort of notice.

Your fastest route would be I-95 to I-10 to 301 to I-75. I’d check out Jekyll Island.

My wife and I are quite familiar with this route, having family in Tampa and traveling from HiltonHead area. Also know that Jekyll has much natural beauty. Have been to Okefenokee and was a bit disappointed: it is so huge that a lot of the wildlife has retreated from the tourist areas. I agree with Superfly’s recommendation.

I had radiofrequency ablation to remove a cancerous patch on my esophagus 18 months ago. No issues. You'll be under general anesthesia. I'm sure you'll be fine.

RFA for the esophagus is not the same as RFA for a spinal problem, when you address efficacy and side effects.

I suggest you get medical opinions from physicians. Get a second or even a third opinion. Using information from UHH to make a medical decision is not a great idea - it's like asking your plumber what lens to use in a particular situation.

This is indeed a site primarily for photography, but there are not only physicians on this site who have photography as a hobby, but also people who have had similar problems and the same procedure with their back who happen to have photography as a hobby. The gentleman who reached out was asking for help, and people responded rather selflessly. I imagine the replies gave him a basis for how to ask for more information from his doctor. I agree that a second or third opinion is a good idea. He is on his way to making a more informed and hopefully comfortable decision.

[quote=Alafoto]Later this month I am scheduled to have a procedure called 'radiofrequency ablation' and wonder if any of my fellow hoggers have any experience with this. I have excruciating back pain, partly because I'm 76 years old, but mostly because I didn't take very good care of myself when I was younger. The procedure, as explained to me involves finding the nerves that transmit the pain signal to the brain, then causing a lesion with the use of pulses of high frequency radio waves which blocks the transmission of the pain signals
If any of you have undergone this treatment, I'd much appreciate hearing of your experiences.

I have not had it though it was suggested. I will provide you a quote from “UpToDate,” which is a respected source for review of medical literature.
“ We suggest not using radio frequency denervation in the management of chronic low back pain. The available data are inconsistent and suggest that, compared with placebo, (it) may modestly reduce pain in the short-term; however there does not appear to be clear long-term benefit. When added to a treatment regimen that includes a regular exercise program and psychologic support, radiofrequency denervation provides little additional benefit.”
That being said, it may help some people, for some time. If it can reduce the pain enough that it means you can get by with non-narcotic drugs. My reluctance was based on the above reference and my personal belief is we experience pain for a reason, and that is to warn us to avoid something that may make the underlying problem worse.
Chronic back pain is a major problem. There are a lot of causes, which demand a lot of different solutions.
Good luck.

It is not cheating, but it may be competing. This forum has made that clear to me. Personally, I don’t enjoy time working on a computer so I don’t edit my shots. Other things force me to spend more time than I like chained to the computer. To me, the fun of photography is the time in the field and the editing is drudgery. Am I alone feeling this way?

Not at all.

I'm a retired video production/television editor and have personally seen and experienced the transition from analog video to digital video. I've been a 35mm hobbyist for most of my life and have witnessed the same transition from film to digital photography as well. Now, I've discovered post processing and it has opened a whole new appreciation of the hobby. I think I've always had a pretty good eye as well as a decent understanding of exposure, shutter speed and the like. BUT, as the photos I've processed look great, I have this nagging feeling that I'm CHEATING. I feel that these shots aren't a result of my ability but the result of the magic that is the computer. Here are a couple of examples of my post processed shots (I'm going to try and upload the originals as well). What are your thoughts? and, of course any comments about the shots themselves.
I'm a retired video production/television editor a... (show quote)

The camera is not as good as the combination of your eyes and brain in viewing a scene, which has a certain emotional impact at the time you took the picture. Post processing allows you the opportunity to get a bit closer to what you initially experienced. Some however go a bit overboard. It seems you are enjoying your innate creativity and appreciation of what you see and experience; no reason to feel guilty.
