No doubt flying insects are tough, but your bee shot is pretty darn solid. Well done!!
Thank you so much, raymondh! Actually I was surprised myself of the outcome.

WOW Lilo! Great macros! Love the bug in flight! Frame that beauty!
Thanks a bunch, Snap Shot! That bug in flight was one of those lucky shots, that bee came at the fly on the Thistle over and over again, trying to knock it off, and I kept shooting and I must have got it at the right moment.

Very nice shots Lilo. The bee made me smile, in flight they look like how they are depicted in children's books or comic strips. If you are new to macro you are a very fast learner.
Thank you so much, Brenda!

Wow ....those are fantastic shots.....
Thank you so much for taking a look! I am rather new to Macro and I hesitated putting up the images because I have a lot to learn. It is hard for me to judge my images and couldn't decide if they were any good or so so. Appreciate your nice comment!

Nice captures, I like them all but particularly #'s 1 & 3.... Yes, it's very difficult getting an insect in flight. What gear were you using for it ?
Thanks Scott! I have the Nikon D7100 and I use the Nikkor lens 105mm for the Macro, I just recently purchased a ring flash. I am still pretty new to Macro, but I like it.
The image of the flying insect was just a stroke of pure luck, I was shooting a fly on my thistle and the bee was trying to knock that fly off, so I was focusing on the bee instead.
Thanks for taking a look.

The Florida native green Anole

Ran into this little guy yesterday, we don't see those green Anoles very often, so I was happy to get to see one of those. I had just enough time to snap the picture before he went behind the leaves.

This bee was heading straight for one of my flowers, not the best shot, but it's not easy getting an insect in flight.

My camera/lens settings: Manual, ISO 200, 1/200-sec, f/16.
My Di866 settings: Manual, drop-down diffuser deployed (which automatically sets speedlight coverage to widest), output starting at 1/8-power (decrease for light subjects; increase for dark subjects). My speedlight is offset, connected with an inexpensive TTL cord.
I am going to have to try this out, I don't have a TTL Cord, so I am going to get one. And it looks like I went about that the wrong way. Going to the Camera Shop tomorrow and maybe they can show me how to set this like you told me.
Appreciate your help and I will let you know how it all works out. :)

What "symptoms" does your Di866 display?
I can't get it to work when I put it on Shutter, Manual or Aperture, it only works on automatic, a function I don't use.

I LOVE my Nissin Di866, which I purchased used on eBay. Most powerful hotshoe speedlight made.
That's the one I have! It doesn't seem to work right for me, maybe it is me and not the light. I can't figure it out.

Which speedlight did you own, and which are you considering for your Nikon D7100 with 105-mm macro lens?
I strongly suggest that you consider one of the larger (more powerful) Yongnuos, such as a YN-565EX or a YN-568EX.
Consider used, at 1/2 the price of new.

I have a Nissin Di866, it never worked good and I have to replace it. I will check into what you have suggested, surely they work better. Thanks for taking a look and your advise. It is appreciated!
