About when we went to the .308 NATO round, then the .223. Are those in inches or mm?

The 7.62x51 NATO round is very close to the .308 Winchester. The 5.56x45 NATO round is very close to .223 Remington. I can shoot .223 in a 5.56 chamber, not vise versa.

What would you call a B-52 crew member as old as his craft?

Answer: General.

I watch a few car shows with English presenters like, Top Gear and Wheeler Dealers. Aren't they supposed to be using metric standards?
However, the presenters seem to use miles & kilometers and other units interchangeably.
So, I'm confused.

We currently have a Toyota pickup and a Honda CRV so all my SAE wrenches and sockets are unnecessary--Right? Wrong. The manual says you need both and it appears to be random as to which parts are which.

Unlike our European friends, we have no governmental unit with absolute power to prescribe measurements, but metric will come industry by industry. I used to purchase certain libations by the fifth, and the tenth and the Imperial pint. That is obviously nature's way.

A question: Where do you find a cubit and why is it still important?

Actually, national prohibition ended 6 Dec 1933 with the repeal of the V olstead Act.

The only thing standing between the earth and a full blown glacial period is greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In 300 years or so, when we run out of coal, it's coming--earlier if we limit emissions enough.

Other things to watch. Increased seismic activity in the vicinity of the New Madrid fault indicative of instability in the center of the North American Plate. There is also increased activity in the area of the San Andreas and San Jacinto fault lines at the edge. Also I have noticed seismic activity within 500 miles of Yellowstone.

When I was in college I studied geomorphology and climatology in the earth sciences department. I was told by every professor that an ice age in my lifetime was a possibility.

I've seen several articles like this. There is a lot of evidence of the Vikings giving in North America in the early second century. The most interesting is the "runestone" that was found in Minnesota.

Actually, the Norse in North America were explorers seeking to build settlements rather than Vikings. And Viking was what the Norse did in Europe, Britain, Ireland, the Med and the Near East. Leivar Ericsson's voyage was after the Viking age.

The Kensington Stone in Minnesota is most likely a hoax.

The newly discovered settlement is within easy distance of Leif's settlement at Vinland and not a major continental incursion.

Note: Greenland is on the North American plate and is less than 1000 miles from Newfoundland.

The practice of medicine is regulated by state by state regulations. Licensure is to an individual state and is not transferable unless relicense procedure is followed. As such, in most cases, prescriptions written in one state might or might not be accepted in another. This is especially true of controlled substances. Federal law dictates which drugs are listed as federally controlled substances and what guidelines must be followed on a national basis in order to prescribe these. Individual states, however, can place more restrictions on prescribing these drugs as is deemed necessary in that state. For example, some states require a separate drug registration by physicians to prescribe controlled drugs (WY, eg) whereas others, like CA, only require the physician to be licensed as a practitioner and have a DEA number. CA does require class II drugs have a maximum of 30 days and a physical Rx be written after face to face meeting with the doctor. This may be inconvenient for you, but as a physician, yes it is onerous to us as well, but it is a protection for both the patient and physician. There is a lot of Rx drug abuse going on and Rx drugs account for more deaths than illegal ones. I work for an HMO so I am not getting paid by the patient and so the added visit does not add to my income and most doctors would rather forego the added income for convenience, but not for safety.

My understanding was that the paper prescription was required by DEA.

My reference to People's Democratic Republic of California dealt with the attempts to prevent pass through commerce in firearms travelling from the ports of Long Beach and San Francisco to the interior of the United States.

I have a tremor that impacts my readings. A nurse using a pump up meter can get an accurate reading. Automatic BP meters, whether home or in an institutional setting read high. I got a wrist meter once that gave me readings that do not exist.

I am on a pain medication that is federally regulated. I am required to take in a physical prescription every 30 days. How would this be handled if I lived in New York--which apparently, like California, does not consider itself to be bound by the Commerce Clause of the US Constituion.

When "Celebrity News" features a bunch of people you've never heard of, you know you're getting old. "Dancing with the Stars" is similar. Will they ever have any stars on that show? Obviously, real stars are too busy with their lives to spend weeks learning how to dance.

The magazines at the checkout stand talk about people by their first name only and other than the English Royal family, I have no idea who they are talking about. Okay, I do vaguely recognize the Kardashians but have no idea what they do other than be celebrities.

Actually, on my 99 pickup, I roll the windows up and down. It runs, gets better mileage than the front wheel drive Honda my wife has. I have had five offers for is this year. 8-)

You use alternating current in your home and office. Edison invented the incandescent light bulb. The massive power grid depends on AC. Check out Tesla's patents on Google.

Westinghouse never built the power stations which could have powered major cities without without wires.
