As understand it,in landscape photography many images have foreground, midrange, and background with at least the object of interest in focus. In looking at your image my eye is drawn to the marshgrass in the foreground which is soft(defocused)-then to the background trees which are also soft. The effect is a dreamy image which is somewhat appealing. If the marsh grass was your subject, and I suspect it may have been since it blocks the background, you could use a larger aperture, focus on the grass, and have a nice bokeh in the background.

I got you! I was loving the marsh grass and how the background looked thru that. I simply took what my eyes found pretty. As for aperture.. Im taking all my pics thru a cell camera! I don't think it gives me the option to change anything like that. I really need to upgrade lol!

[quote=sailorsmom]I like the feet best! Good shots, Carol![/quote
The feet were one of my faves! My 4 yr old nephew and I were taking pictures and he had his Lil foot close to mine. He says "See Aunt Color.. I'm almost grown like you! Let's take a swelfie of our feets!" Gotta love a kid who likes taking "swelfies" hehe

Looks like you have a nice day despite the cold. Nice shots anyway. Hope you get to feeling better. Try some nice hot Chicken Noodle soup. Works wonders!

Thanks James! It's looking like bronchitis or pneumonia. I'll know more this evening when I get to the doc. :(

#2 is an arresting image. The composition breaks some rules and I like it.

Can you explain? I am a total novice at photography so bear with me. I'm in the learning how to walk stage?!! 😁

That was in my younger, wilder days but instead of the street shot...you would've gotten the ring of the porcelain throne! bahahahaha

Yes many times with this one and many other antiques I've seen, would love to hear the story they all could tell. All of the areas I been in I would often wander what it would look like without all of the development just natural.Whoa way of subject now.

I think the same of photos. I see them and think, wow, if only that photo could talk. I think that is why I love taking pics of nature and such as that. If you can give your viewer something to think about other than "that's a pretty picture" then I think that is what makes a really good photographer!
