jbaird, If you have never heard of Paul Simon, go to iTunes and search for him and his recording of Kodachrome. You're in for a real treat. Also, note his pronunciation of Nikon.

I wholeheartedly agree with you MT Shooter. I would definitely support your indignant and narcissistic labels. I think the best teachers usually start their classes with, ". . . there are no dumb questions." The only truly dumb questions are the ones that aren't asked.

I think that is the crux of the matter and should end the discussion. We don't care how the Brits pronounce aluminum, schedule, etc. Nor do we care how the Japanese pronounce some of their words. We Americans have our own language

We might get the controversy solved by emailing Paul Simon to find out where he learned the word he used in his song. I am also reminded that an email should be sent to the BBC announcers about the words "controversy" and "schedule". And . . . I believe that if the Japanese wanted it pronounced "Neeson" they should have spelled it that way. Give us Americans an "Ni" and it comes out "Ni". ;)

Watching a Nikon commercial I noticed they pronounced it "Neecon". Paul Simon in the song Kodacrome pronounces it "Niikon". Which is it? I like the Paul Simon version better. :D
