Makes no sense. Why do they care if the jpgs started out as raw only capture? I can see why they don't want gigantic raw files, and certainly jpgs are all a news organization would need, but how the photographer took them originally is a moot point I would think.

I suspect that it is to ensure that the photos submitted have not been altered (Photoshopped or AI) enough to get them in trouble.

I've used them for 6 or 7 years, and am completely satisfied with them. I have NordVPN on my iMac, iPhone, MacBook Pro and iPads...

The tops of the phones have to be within an inch. You have to take steps during the process to confirm it’s what you want to do. You can set it for only people in your Contacts or to receive data and not send yours. It’s a convenience for people who are always exchanging business cards. I don’t see it as a threat.

This is correct. This whole thing started with a malicious TikTok posting that was picked up by a lot of people that don’t understand technology. The article I read pointed out that police departments issued this warning, without ever looking at the background.

I also hate the new format. Can’t find anything. I’m not gonna waste my time, routing through all of the mixed subject messages to find the ones I want!

Figured it out!

In the bottom left of the screen DirtFarmer graciously provided above, there are boxes with "1" and"2" in them, just below the word "Import." Clicking on "2" makes my problem go away! Hurray!

On an Intel Mac, running Mac OS Monterrey. In Develop mode I'm trying to put keywords on each image, progressing left to right in the filmstrip. All fine until I did something wrong- but I don't know what it is. Now, every time I select an image I get a second image selected, each with a small diamond, either white or black, in the top right corner. As I toggle between them the color in the diamond switches. Keywords seem to be synced between them, as the keywords for both images show up in the keyword panel of each. I've made sure auto sync is turned off. I've tried "deselect active image" but that only serves to move the selection attribute to another image, and i still have two selected images.

How do I undo this?

I’m going to have three days near the lake in northern Ohio in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions for photos in that area?

My first was an apple QuickTake in the late 80s, I believe. 640X480- I still have some images somewhere, but nothing can read them now...

Actually she is a PADI Instructor that is the lead dive guide for Neal Watson's dive operation at the Bimini Big Game Club, and does this two or three times a week.

...off Bimini, in the Bahamas, in early November. From the only dive we got in before Hurricane Nichole ran us out.

These two are NiMH batteries, which were built in 2010, and had lost the ability to hold a charge. Using instructions at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFOUAje4c5k for rebuilding a NiCad version (physically the same) I tried to rebuild them. At 83 I find I'm not steady enough to do fine soldering, and ruined one set of batteries trying; I'll leave that to younger, steadier hands.

One case is empty except for the control board, with the battery pack displayed. The other hasn't been disassembled, though it was opened to compare connections with the first one, and the innards replaced without modification. Included is a pair of 3D printed devices to hold the batteries in place, as recommended by one of the commenters in the above video. The batteries shown are 2200mAh which may be less than the original, but are the only ones I found with the correct physical size. Even a few thousands oversize apparently prevents the assembled pack from going into the case. Don't know the effect of lower mAh- perhaps slightly more recharge frequency.
