All I have to say is congrats on your adoption!! Your heart is obviously much bigger than your brother's.
If I get any good shots, I'll post 'em. If not, I'll be back in the studio with the cats!
Thanks everyone for your replies. I don't have a circular polarizing filter so ordered one of those today and I have a clicker so I think I'm set - oh, and i'll get some dog biscuits too!
These are great - thank you so much! Nicodemus is so funny in that first shot! I think what I will do is have one camera with the 24-70 and the other with the 85 and put a polarizing filter on one. Thanks again for sharing your photos!
Great suggestions everyone! Thanks so much. Any thoughts on a prime lens vs. the 24-70? Thanks!
I primarily photograph cats in a studio setting and next weekend I am doing candids at an outdoor doggie swimming event and could use some advice on which lens(es) to use and settings. I have a Nikon D7100 and D5200 and a 24-70, 50 and 85 primes and the kit lens. I'd like to get some fun "shaking the water off" shots! I shoot in manual and was thinking a pretty high shutter speed - how wide of aperture do you think I could get away with? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!
Four years ago the animal shelter where I volunteer posted that they were looking for a cat photographer. I had a lot of fun in college taking photos with my trusty Nikon and thought "Why not!" I didn't have a DSLR at the time and took my point and shoot camera down to the shelter. Needless to say the cats moved faster than my camera and I quickly got a Nikon D5100. Four years later and I have a D7100 and am having a blast. Still have a hard time photographing black cats and torti kitties are the absolute hardest. Have been lurking on the forum for a while and have learned a lot and look forward to keep on learning!
