A point that may or may not be important to you, but you may want to go to the D7xxx series in APS-C as nothing less than that (D3xxx or D5xxx) has the screw drive motor in the body required to be able to use legacy auto- focus lenses (AF), only those with stepper motors in the lens (AF-S) with only a few restrictions. Does that 18- 300 lens need a screw drive body or does it have a an internal stepper motor? Welcome to the Hog, a lot of good advice here.

If yopu want the very best reference guide to ANY Nikon DSLR then you need to check out those by Thom Hogan. They are excellent works and very in- depth info about all of the camera's features, how they work, and why you would make use of them, with recommendations about nominal settings for them. The link for the current D500 guide is: <http://www.dslrbodies.com/books/bythom-complete-guides-/nikon-d500-guide.html>, with a current price of $29.99 for the diigital download in PDF format and which he will allow, even under copyright, a single professionately bound copy to be printed by a competent source and which such statement is shown in the book to give that right to the copier/ binder, or by yourself if you only want a few pages at a time for reference. Excellent work if it's anywhere near the guides I have for the D200 and D300. Purchase also includes the right to obtain any future updates to the guide.

is this lens compatible with my 7200 for everything save AF

7000/7100/7200 have a screw drive motor in the body for auto- focus, so it is fully compatible!!

Just received a D7200 referbed camera from Adorama and it came with out a owners manual. Called Adorama and was told to download it. I really would like to have a light weight copy to keep in the camera case. Nikonusa doesn't list one either. Does anyone know if the D7100 owners manual would be any different and if so what basically would the differences be? Thanks. Leon

Leon,

Glad you were able to find a copy online from 42nd Street. For future reference, in the past I've been able to get ones from an online resource like Camera Books <www.camerabooks.com> and Keh Camera <www.keh.com>. They usually have most paper manuals available for purchase for a reasonable price.

Yes, Definitely! I always watch with closed captions turned on. Why music has to be louder than dialog is beyond me.

A presenter for an English science show realized that the music was overpowering his commentary. When he mentioned that to the producer, he was told that's how he wanted it.

I believe that if I had been the commentator, I would have walked out, due to them not needing my commentary if it could not be heard!

Have put in manual focus, looks food to me, still wont take pic.

I can change priority in settings?

Mimi,

Go to your menus, and if the same as my D300, under "custom settings"- "auto focus" a1 AF-C and a2 AF-S you have the ability to tell the camera to either release regardless of focus or to only release when focus is achieved with additionally under continuous focus mode to keep focus when shooting in motor mode. Hope this helps.

Vietnam - 50Years Later

"A veteran is someone who, at one point in his or her life wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country now who no longer understand it."

One important point to remember too, is that that blank check was written to his or her fellow citizens--- not the government--- even though they were the ones who endorsed and cached same....... Just sayin'-------.

Bob,

Great capture of this wonderful young man. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that you're going to need a truck to haul him anywhere once he's fully grown!!!! (20+ pounds)

You sure you have the correct numbers?

Donald,

You are reading the bill given this number under the 113th Congress. The current session is the 114th Congress. :-o :)

I was wondering which ISO to use on my Nikon D800? Supposedly the lowest native one (whatever that means). Currently I use 100 for most of my shooting. Could I go to Lo 1 or Lo 2 to get a better noise free image? Thanks in advance for the help.

Not only will you possibly lose some of your dynamic range, but the noise may actually go UP at the lo ISO due to too little amplification of the signal in the sensor.... which is why the higher base ISO was chosen as it was to begin with--- because it has the least noise!!

Keith, thanks for your reply. My problem is when I bought the camera it came with the abilty to take ten pictures before inserting a memory card. I took the pictures and now I don't know how to get them off. LaTricia

Queen,

OK, now I'm on the same page--- you must be using a point and shoot that DOES have some internal memory. In that case, the only way to retrieve your pics is to use the USB cable that connects your camera to your computer, since those photos DON'T get written to a card.

Hope this helps,

Please help I have some pictures ion my internal drive I would like to get off. What can be done. LaTricia

Queen,

The camera doesn't save anything to its internal buffer memory--- it'is only to "absorb' data from the sensor and processor until it can be transferred to your removable card((s). unless you remove a card before the transfer is complete, in which case you would lose that un-transferred data forever.

What is BBF

dyno,

BBF= BackButtonFocus, or the practice of using the "AF On" or similar named button actuated by one's right thumb to actuate the auto- focus instead of a half- press of the shutter release.
