Yes, been there many times and recently as well.
It is now a sewer of crime compared to some years ago.
Gee, I just took the subway to Times Square to see a Broadway show. Wasn't mugged, didn't see a fight, no cops bringing down a gun-toting criminal. My daughter lives in Manhattan. Go there weekly. I've survived. I've lived in NYC for 69 of my 75 years (the other 6 in Chicago). I traveled the subways to high school, college, graduate school, and work. Never a problem. As in any other urban area, you should stay alert and out of certain locations, which you probably have no reason to visit anyway. Just go and enjoy.
You can return if you find mold or scratches or any other defect. The only comments in this thread have been about dust in the caps. That has been removed. No comments on the front or rear lens elements, which can be clearly seen through to the leaf shutter. No comments on the lens body, which is unmarked. The lens is stored in its soft case in a sealed bin along with ½ dozen other lenses, flashes, and other equipment. So put up or shut up.
Nikon 35mm f/1.4G for sale. The lens is in like new condition, rarely used because I found it more practical to carry the 24-70mm. The original soft case, lens cap (both ends) and lens hood are included. Also included is a 67mm Hoya clear protector filter. The lens is US warrantee. Asking price is $1050. Includes shipping. (Dusted the caps)
You can see one on the deck of the Intrepid on the west side of Manhattan.
I live in NYC now and am in Manhattan regularly. Stop reading the NY Post and walk the streets.
Oh please. Crime does happen, but the chances of being involved are very low. It is largely confined to neighborhoods you won’t visit. As for the subways, ridership is increasing as people return to work. With several million riders a day, the rate is microscopic. Go and enjoy. Treat yourself to a pastrami sandwich at Katz on Houston Street.
The Cloisters in northern Manhattan. It’s the medieval branch of the Metropolitan. Lower Manhattan from DUMBO (the Brooklyn side of the bridge) in the evening. Just walk around midtown for street photography.
The University of Chicago in Hyde Park. The quad is beautiful and the plants should be in bloom. The campus is recognized as a botanical garden. Also Promontory Point on the lake for great views of downtown. Jackson Park and the Museum off Science and Industry.
Upgraded to 64gb myself. Got memory from OWC. Cost about $400. Easy to do if you just follow the instructions. Good luck.
I just decommissioned my 10 year old iMac and replaced it with a new 27", top of the line CPU, 2gb SSD version. I added 64gb of memory for under $400 (Apple is notoriously stingy with memory). The vast number of people who purchase computers never upgrade after the initial purchase, so this is a red herring. There are education and military discounts available from Apple, if you qualify. Having used pcs at work and iMacs at home, I can just say that Macs are a more seamless experience.
I have used Blurb several times. Excellent but not cheap.
