As we approach winter here in New Zealand we encounter some gorgeous early morning clear skies and as I drive into work (Auckland) each morning I come across some beautiful "Skyline" shots.
I recently visited the Karangahake Gorge between Paeroa and Waihi in the North Island of New Zealand. It was a day after torrential rain and I was hoping the water would be plentiful but not too 'dirty'. It was a beautiful morning and the sun slanted off the walls of the gorge and added to the whole atmosphere of the 'shoot'.
A collage of recent shots in and around my home town
The Orakei Basin in CBD Auckland is a beautiful oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle and on a calm spring morning can offer some beautiful perspectives.
It was a calm, beautiful Auckland morning so I drove down to the waterfront and captured the scenes as attached
Yes..that's a good point. I will get on to that. Thanks for the comment.
Yeah...it is beautiful. I have lived here all my 73 years, but there are other lovely places too and I'd love to explore some of those.
My work took me north last week so as I had to stay overnight, decided to arise early and see what I could find around the shoreline of the Whangarei harbor. It was beautiful, calm, reflective morning so out to enjoy myself. I attach some of my "finds" that morning.
My wife and recently enjoyed 8 days on a beautiful little Island in the South Pacific. It is only 5 X 8 Kms and you can drive to any point on the island in around 10 minutes. I am attaching some shots taken while over there.
The long dark nights of winter are giving way to the morning song of birds, daffodils and other touches of spring. So I set off in early morning to catch a few harbor shots as the sun was rising over the Auckland harbor.
It sure does. It helps marvelously.
Cheers, Max
Thanks for the comments and the tip re bracketing. I have never tried it but must get some lessons on how to do so, and also how to use Light Room. Is it difficult?
Decided to get down to the Viaduct Basin, Auckland Harbor to try and improve low light skills. It was a chilly morning but clear, crisp skies added to the atmosphere.
Hi David, No I didn't use a tripod as there was a walkway right at the point I wanted to take the photos and the top railing had a flat 4X2 running its length, so I just rested my camera on that, held it tight and took the shot. Yeah...I agree with you, Wellington is great, I will be down there Monday, Tuesday next week so will try and catch some early morning shots there too.
