I get a kick out of the people that post snarky remarks to people's questions. I'd guess almost every technical question ever asked on here has been answered somewhere else such as a manual, Google, or Youtube. People come here to get help from those wanting to help others. The experience of getting help from a fellow picture taker is much different than looking up information on page 893 of the manual. If you don't want to help, just pass the question up and move on. Knowing the page number in the manual is helpful, but the sarcasm is not. I see this all the time on this site. Never understood it.

Be aware that finding the Canon brand adapters may not be so easy at the moment. 3 weeks ago I wanted to buy the basic $99 adapter. All the big named stores, including the Canon online store, were out of stock. Luckily my local small photo shop had them in stock.

I ended up going to my local camera shop. They had one left. Technically they had 2 others but one had the drop in filter and the other had the control ring. If by chance someone reads this and needs one of those two models, contact Robi's Camera in Lakewood, Wa. Not sure if they ship, but couldn't hurt to try.

Try pictureline.com. I believe they are in Salt Lake City. I bought one there, $99
I live in NJ and they shipped free and did not charge me sales tax

Thanks for the suggestion but alas, they too are out of stock.

I have bad experience with Viltrox ......hold out for the Canon version - and yes, native RF lenses are very slightly better - but mostly if $$$ is no object.

Thank you for this piece of information.

I assume you need the adaptor now for a new camera. Correct?

About a month ago I purchased a Canon brand EF to RF adapter. From my past research I’d stick with the genuine Canon product.

That said, your 3rd Party adapter is only about $100. If you can’t fine a Canon adapter now I’d buy what you can get now then sell it once you can locate a genuine Canon product.

You must have purchased the adapter with the control ring. The Canon basic adapter is $100.

Try Roberts out of Indianapolis. They might have the adapter and they ship to all states.

Excellent, I will do that. I called Canon today to check on a shipping item and to ask when they think these adapters will be back in stock. I received the answer I was expecting, "we don't know when."

Well, it's odd that when I tell my wife that the $2000 dollar lens is "needed" she thinks it really isn't. I say this jokingly to you. Yes, it would be great to have the expendible money for all the great rf lenses, but I'm not a pro and there are other needs for that money. The crazy amounts of money these new cameras are going for is mind boggling to me, but that's a whole different conversation.

I did buy one rf lens. Well, I bought the non L 25-105 stm. It, along with the camera have not arrived. I'm surprised you would think using ef lenses would be a waste. I'm a YouTube jockey at this point, but from what I've seen, using ef lenses works great. They are more plentiful in the used market than rf glass is, so I'm thinking that finding a good bargain on used lenses is more likely in the ef realm. Yes, perhaps you could say the rf glass will perform better, but im pretty sure there are some excellent results to be had with ef lenses as well. There must be many people out there making use of the same idea I have if so many of the adapters are being sold.

I've been looking to buy one of these and it seems they are sold out and on back order everywhere. Has anyone heard when stock might be back in? I'm considering buying a 3rd party adapter instead, but wanted to stick with the Canon product if it comes back in stock soon. Along those lines, has anyone tried out the Viltrox adapters? Any opinions out there about their fit and finish? Thanks to all who might have insight into any of these topics.

I thought about going for an R6, but that camera is in a whole different league when it comes to price. Roughly 800 for an RP, roughly 2500 for an R6.

Hi there. If you don't mind Canon refurbished, they seem to have a great reputation, I believe you can still match the deal I got on an RP body. After tax, the total was $810 (or close to that, I forget). The refurb cameras are on sale for $809 right now. Then, call in your order and ask to get another 10% off through the Canon loyalty program. They will ask for a serial number and the model number of a Canon body you own. You do not have to trade it in. Hope this might help you. The Canon Loyalty program reduces your cost another 10% on refurbished items.

I'm a 75 year old great grandpa who was quite into photography in my 20's and then life happened and I went from my SLR to point and shoots. Life now have lives of their own so last August I purchased a Nilon D3500 kit then I purchased a Tamron 18-400 zoom last week. I'm not a professional, not interested in any one thing to photograph. I'm using the camera for vacations, grandkids, experiments with birds, the moon and anything else I might think about. So, here's the questions, should I upgrade to the D7200? Will I really gain anything or will the 3500 do all I want it too? Thanks

I use a d7100. I'm thinking the weight difference between the two cameras may be something to consider.
