I have been taking photos seriously for 2 years now, I have had my Nikon D3100 for about 9 months now and i have finally got one photo straight out of the camera, and one that just needed a little chromatic abrasion fix.

here they are, tell me what you think.

Both look good to me even if #2 is slightly out of focus. It has a very redeeming feature and that is being able to see the green leaf showing through the top petal of the blossom. Beautiful and interesting. Rbo36

Might be my monitor but the second looks a little out of focus...better on the lower leaf...

I see what your talking about, the focus is about a half inch in front of the middle of the flower, I think it was the wind, at least thats my story and Im sticking to it. thanks for the insight.

I guess I think the process is fun and interesting in lr or photoshoot, but what's the point if the end product... Do they make the photos better ?

I guess that would depend on your definition of better, personally I think it either adds extra emphasis to the subject or it helps to redefine what the subject is. I agree that it is not for everyone, but hey, what is?

thank you for your comment.

I like the coloring; however, I feel that a vertical crop on number one might be better than the horizontal which leaves so much space on the sides. Just my opinion.

I do like the vertical crop, in fact I have one that way, I did this one in landscape however to emphasize the reclusive nature in which the tulip was growing. I do agree with you though, and if you would like I can show that version too.

You had great focus, and the baby has the cutest expressions. The only thing I can see that you could consider doing next time is maybe a light on the babies hair to separate it from the background, or do a different background color. Awesome pics, and welcome to UHH.

I agree about the noise, and one other thing I see is a sort of slant on the horizon ( I use the cloud line in by the mountains). All in all though, those are two easy fixes, and you would have a superb photo.

Well thank you all for participating, and commenting. I think in a day or so I'll put up another one to see what can be done, so more to come...
